When I turn my car on, my ABS light is not on. But I don't remember do I have ABS in my car? Anyone knows how to check it?

Look for the red box that contains the ABS computer under the interior fuse box panel.

several ways to check it. get the vin number and contact toyota and give them ur vin number theyll get you all the info you need.

if you look under the hood you should notice an abs unit, atleast thats wut some other cars have.
turn on ur ignition, all the lights on the dashboard should turn on. if there is no abs light on, then you dont have it. if abs light comes on, then it should disappear in few seconds, that means you have abs.

usually if you have a gts with no sunroof, ur most likely not to have abs or the 16 inch rims on ur car. thats how my car came. gts with cloth seats, 15 inch gt rims, no sunroof, no abs.

Thanks alot, the problem is when I turn my engine on, the ABS is not on. Is it mean I dont have ABS? But I am afraid that I do have ABS, but with some problem so the light is not on. I might not have ABS, but my friend told me that every car suppose to have ABS now, since my car is 2004, so I keep thinking I should have that, too. Mine is a GT with Action pakage and no moonroof.

The easiest way to find out is to look at your front brake caliper for the abs sensor and its wire. Its clearly visable through the wheel.

Nooooooooo. No, not six...seven minute ABS. Six minutes? You can't even get your heart going...not even a mouse on a wheel, nooooo. Step into my office...cause you're fuckin' fired.

The fastest way to check.

1) Get into your car

2) Accelerate rapidly with total disregard for your own safety. Remember this is ABS we're talking about. Not knowing your vehicle is equipped with this ground-breaking technology could severely shorten your lifespan.

3) Stop at the nearest Wendy's and order a Bacon Double Cheeseburger and Large Frosty...Snooch thumbsup

4) Congratulate yourself on your fine choice of dining.

5) Resume driving...the faster the better. Remember, you parents don't love you and your girlfriend is going down on ME...right now. Focus on the ABS...that is your destiny, young Jedi.

6) Without hesitation, apply constant, heavy pressure to the brake pedal (that's the one in the middle...sniper) Keep pushing. That's it.

7) Now...if you feel a rattling sound and vibration from your brake pedal (still the one in the middle) and your wheels HAVE NOT locked up then YOU are alive and safe, thanks to your ABS equipped vehicle.

8) Congratulate yourself on discovering this information and don't forget to let me know what kind of jewlery your girlfriend likes, cause I'm going to marry her.

Will My Intake Suck Up Water? hehe lol

- It's like a vacuum cleaner in that respect...do you think water can resist its sucking power? There's only one way to find out...(bucket of water and Intake/car required)

Good luck with your ABS...we're all behind you thumbsup

And some of us are behind your girl grin lol

oOoLINoOo, you dont have ABS. if abs light doesnt come on when you start the car or turn on the ignition, that means you dont have it.
and yea, there are 04 without abs. if you still desperately wanna find out if you have abs, check under the hood and see if you have an abs unit, check ur fuse box and locate if the abs slot has a fuse in it. drive 25 mph and try to brake ur car to complete stop in 50ft. when you really press hard on the brake of an abs, you should feel a good vibration on the pedal.

but im telling you from now, you dont have it. i had a gts without an abs. yea it sucks to have a sporty car over 20k$ without abs, but i guess you have to look at it the other way. if abs fucks up when ur out of warranty, its gonna cost you alot. plus MOST of the time you dont need an abs on cars like celicas cz theyre already light and have good stopping distance. it is really required on an suv.

Thanks a lot~ actually I dont really know what ABS for? What does it really do? what's the difference between non ABS and a ABS car?

The abbreviated version of Stephen's method:

1. Find an empty street.
2. Depress gas pedal.
3. Release gas pedal once you reach a moderate velocity.
4. Depress brake pedal to the floor until vehicle comes to a complete stop.

If your tires screech, you don't have ABS.
If you feel the brake pedal pumping or moving while you apply constant pressure, the ABS is working to prevent the wheels from locking.

You'll know if it's there or not.
