Celica Forums General Discussion General Annoying rattle(s)

OK, its coming (I think) from the RH side, inside roof, way back, sounds like way back towards hatch where the moonroof visor slides back. Makes noise when visor is open or closed...anyone else have this one, and if so, any quick fixes?

I could take it to the dealer, since its under warranty, and probably will, unless someone has already conquered this, and could save me some time.

i think that was one of the drawbacks of the celica

i was complaining about rattles for a while, and posted something up about them, i think the advice i ended up taking was crank up the music! but still, yeah.. not happy with all the rattling going on...

Yeah, I read those, unfortunately, they don't address my particular rattle. I was hoping they did, but oh well...thanks for trying though!

get a sub and you will forget everything... lol

Creaks tend to happen in the long run. Maintain and greese your rails once in awhile. Gets kinda dirty in their.

the only rattles i noticed when i had my celica was the sun roof. It always rattled when it was open, and it wasnt the glass rattling it was somewhere in the lights above the rearview mirror.

i got lots off rattles, even my door handles, but i got one comin from somewhere in the engine too, its hella annoyin

I have this same annoying rattle. I bought my celi with 9K miles on it and didn't notice it when test driving (it was too much fun). Can't figure out exactly where it comes from - and it doesn't rattle consistently - even on rough road. Makes it harder to figure out. But it is in the same place as yours.

my back end rattled like a mofo cause of the bass and then it quit anyway soon i wanna get the whole car dynamatted starting in back and doin it in sections

Doc, you totally got it...its not all the time, and sometimes it won't even do it on rough road. At first, I thought it was heat sensitive, because it seemed to do it only if it was really hot, but lately its done the reverse -acted up when cool, perfectly fine when hot. I saw a post about removing the headliner, so maybe that would identify what this is, but that is out of the question for me, especially when its under warranty - let the dealer do that. Of course you know it will behave itself and not make a sound when I bring it in.

I had a nasty intermittent rattle on my '94 civic hat the dealer couldn't reprowhen I fist took it in. That car still has that one rattle at 105,000 miles, and now I drive a convertible that ratttles a bit with the top. If it's a small rattle I just don't care anymore ...

Try opening your moonroof, and cleaning all of the dirt and gunk that has built up around the inside edges.

Also, in that TSB, it addresses the top of the hatch glass rattling, which can be fixed with felt.

That may be the issue with your car.

Unfortunately, its not the roof...it is behind, IN the roof where the visor retracts in. I'll take it to the dealer this week

i wouldnt even worry about the damn rattles. My car has various raddles. I just put up my stereo and I dont hear shit anymore.
