What the hell, when i shift into 2nd during lift, it wont go. I can shift under 6 grand. Ive missed so many shifts lately because of this. It shifts totally smooth under normal driving, or even if i back off when racing. But to land the 1-2 shift during lift its like 1 out of 5 chance that it will even go in. This cost me a race against a riced out grand am, Im temporary hating my car now!

i hate to complain but ever since i got this car its been loaded with problems. Motor, clutch, electrical, now tranny, my cavalier was much more reliable and cost a lot less. Anyone want to buy a GTS?

oh you have noticed that the 2000 "first year of the 7th gen" is crap too... Yah you are not the only one that has had problems frown I have already replaced lift bolts and various other "minor" parts... it rattles like a mofo and plain just drives like A**... wish it would have been different experience.. I bought mine practically new as well only, 23k miles. But I have the same problem with 1st to 2nd, it is very un-smooth compared too the other gear transistions. I don't mind saying it either my dropped 96 honda accord with 215/45/17 rode better than my stock celica... spineyes

I've experienced this A LOT. How much does it cost to fix the synchro problem? I bought a replacement throwout bearing (cuz my ACT doesn't fully disengage), but I have yet to put it on (NO $$). Whould this help it or should I have the gear synchronization (sp?) lookaed at?

well appearatly the TRD kit is suppose to correct the gear problem between 1st and 2nd... But I think it will only fix your problems if your synchros aren't smashed to hell. Get this the TRD short shifter kit was implemented on I think 02 and above straight from the factory... if your car still has the power train warranty go complain about the stiffness of the shifts... that is what I am going to do if it gets any worse...

Synchros themselves are not pricey at all.

The labor to fix them is though.

Yeah honestly...I've had SOME problems...but once i drove my celi for over 2 weeks i really had minimal problems from first to second under lift. Mine has almost 60k on the tranny with no replacements or problems other than an occasional grind from 2nd to 3rd under lift...but that's it...so...i really hope that not ALL 6-speed trannies will have a lot of problems...i don't feel like spending money on shit that's not supposed to be shit to start off

Does anyone know for sure if the TRD kit is on the 2002+ Celica's? I have an 03 and was thinking about getting a SSK for it, but if it's already got one, then that would be cool. It doesn't seem like it does though because my friend has a 2000 Celica and his shift throw seems even less than mine.

My car does the exact same thing, when shifting from 1st to 2nd in lift.

I hate it.

I took it to my dads friend(who works at toyota) and he drove it their and drove it around and compared it to another celica and didn't notice it. But i doubt he ran it hard like i do.
