Did you disconnect or moved any of the cables from ECU? What where you trying to do? If you opened the cover then try to find the cable that got unplugged. The reson why it says not to open is to prevent water from penetrating inside and causing a short circuit. I opened mine several times and disconnected some cables but nothing happened. Try disconnecting the battery. This causes the computer to reset and sometimes makes your check engine to go away. In case that it does not work, do what Virgil said to do.

When I did my Intake I took it off, though I really didnt have to. I put it back on and there was no check engine light at the end of the job. But remember I had to disconnect the battery when putting in the Intake.

I unplugged an ECU connector once while testing it, and the fans turned on high speed until I plugged it back in.
Got in the car, started it, and it ran fine, but the CEL came on.
I disconnected the negative battery terminal for like 5 minutes to reset the ECU, and now it's fine.
You need to do the same also.

yea--it's the ecu cover. you can take the plastic piece off (even though it says 'do not open')..just don't drive anywhere with it off and definately don't get it wet or let debris get in

I don't think that it trips a CEL because I know of people that don't have the cooling tube connected to their ECU.
