I went to the dealership and brought the article. The guy checked my car in the computer and there are no recalls as of right now. While I was there I picked up 10 of these fasteners for a $1.20 a piece (the parts department gave me 12). Now my engine plastics are securely fastened once again.

ive noticed my back brakes wear ALOT faster than my front, and i fall in the range of this recall, anybody else notice this? front brakes usually go a lot sooner, i had rear brakes on my celica for 3 months, and they already went bad, just got them replaced last week, and my fronts were damn near still new...i dont know, but im pissed, if i have to replace brakes every 3months thats gonna be a bitch

Heph - Toyota jacks us big time on those plastics bolts. I got a box of 12 at AutoMart last night for $2.49 !! They fit tighter than the OEMs as well.

You ain't joking on that. I just figured while I was there I would get a few that turned into 12. I just didn't get a 6pack and a bag of chips that night to make up for it. The bolts I'm using for the engine plastics are the same bolts used for the under car plastics. Those aren't going to break or go any where in my engine bay. I would like to see the ones you got just for future references. Forgot, this is about the recall. Any news on that?

Is there a recall number yet? How long are they gonna make us wait? I called the dealer and they said nothing. I guess we just have to wait for the stupid number.

It's been made official in Australia. Today it was listed on the Australian governments recalls site:

Everyone calm down.

Within the next month, you should get something in the mail notifying you of the recall, along with instructions on how to go about getting it fixed at the dealership.

That's how recalls usually work.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about new brakes. Toyota will probably look at those cars in the recall then determine if they need to be fixed by their discretion. Then they won't fix some (or most) and will fix some with probably be a piece of rubber, metal, some screws, and maybe a hose thrown in there for good measures.

I called yesterday and checked the nhtsa site and the number has been pushed back to about 109k cars effected by the recall. For example my car is feb 00 and when I called corporate (toyota) they claimed to check my VIN on 3 diff. computers and came up with nothing then gave me a case number. So don't get ur hopes up. The site you can check is www.nhtsa.dot.gov [nhtsa.dot.gov] and the toyota corp number is 1(800)331-4331.

Bump for what? You know what to do or wait. I already explained that nobody will be getting new brakes and only a few will get a fix on the brake booster or whatever. That's just how it goes. slidr was being nice compared to me.
