unless you have a mechanical engineering degree and your own shop, it'd be tough for you to do it yourself.

its easier to convert from 5s manual to a 6sp manual, because you can just buy a euro 6spd that comes with there gt models and it will bolt right in!!

yes, you can.

it's easier to convert an automatic to a manual than it is to convert a manual to an automatic...however this is the case when usually converting your 4-speed auto into a 4-spead manual.

but yes--you can use the gts 6-spd tranny for your manual or you can use the euro gt 6-speed tranny...they have the same mounts connected to the motor

huh? confused you guys should know by now the transmission switch from auto to manual is very possible using USA parts. you just need the:

GT 5 spd ECU
GT 5 spd axels
clutch
flywheel
clutch master cylinder
shifer(housing, cables)
clutch and barke assemblies
6 spd transmission
etc.

Well I was thinking about doing this...and the dealer told me that it would be T&M

and that it would totally void my whole warranty on my car...so I was thinking that it was going to cost about $6,000 to do...or in that price range.

It should cost ya about ~$1500 to get all the parts from the scrap yard. I don't think there is a change in the axles from an auto to a manual.

If you are going to do all that work, it would not be a lot of work to dump the GTS motor in with the 6speed. Just buy the engine, tranny, wiring harness, cables, pedals & the entire package from the scrap yard. Should be about $3000.

i was thinking 6spd cause its a big difference over the 5spd. So, all i would need is just the transmission from a 6spd GTS right?

I agree, just spend the extra money, and a little more time, and replace the entire engine with a GTS, you get more power, you get the thansmission, cause you're gonna practically be taking the engine out to bolt on the trans anyway, might as well go the whole 9 yards for 3000 scrap, or even I know a place offered an engine swap for me for 3500(I have a bit of miles, and it's starting to show slightly, so looked into a new engine)

yea, this will not happen anytime soon. But i will deff think about the engine swap when i get a lot of miles on her. Lift would be so much better.

if you have the gts 6spd in ur GT u'll top out each gear much quicker especially if ur on the 1/4 mile you'll be shifting into 5th gear at 95 mph, but the euro 6spd gt has the same 6th gear ratio but the first 5 gears are different and are very good for the GT, so if you do a 6spd swap make sure its euro 6spd for the gt

why would you wanna switch a gt 5 speed into a 6 speed for like around 6k when you can sell ur gt and use that extra 6k and buy a GTS im pretty sure if you switch a gt into a 6 speed it wouldnt be that much faster...

First off i have a auto GT not a 5spd. So, from auto to a 6spd would make a hell of a difference. I don't really care much about speed. I would just like the oppurtunity to go fast. The Auto is alright but 6spd would just be a lot more fun to drive. And i don't wanna deal with trading in my car thats just a hassle and a waste of time.

why dont you just switch it into a 5 speed its almost the same thing ur gear ratio would change a bit if you switch it into a 6 speed but you will have to do a lot more work. Im saying you should trade it for a GTS you get way way way way way more speed and you get rims and leather seats + you save some cash beside it wouldnt be anything amazing to switch a gt into a 6 speed. If you want speed and ur willing to spend soo much to just change a tranny I would get a GTS w/ mods beside its way more comfortable in a GTS. Im not saying its bad but its a good project and all but i dont think its like useful to do that

not worth haveing the gts 6spd in the GT, ur ratios are too different i dont think you would want to be shifting into 5th gear at 95 mph racing wise so redlining you top out way earlier in each gear 6spd euro version has the ratios for the GT thumbsup

Put the 6 spd in first, drive your GT motor into the ground & then swap for a GTS motor & do your clutch at the same time. There's a plan. thumbsup

Yeah, and you'd mis-shift a lot.

doing a full GTS conversion wouldn't be that easy. I've done a Nissan 240 sx KA engine swap to a CA18 engine and you have to change everything. Including wiring harness, too much stuff. I'd do a 6spd conversion. i would seriously discourage people to do this DIY unless you really have the knowledge and experience in this field. topping out each gear early would be better for you 1/4 mile time just not top end. think about it if you topped out at 100 mph in 6th gear then you could get there quicker.

confused Why didn't you just buy a 5-speed GT or 6-speed GTS in the first place?
