How come everytime I look at a an article where the celica is in it, I never see anyone saying anything good about it? Now that they are discontinuing production, I'm starting to wonder what was wrong. I love my 2000 gts. The only thing I can say is that they are pricy and I never would have got one unless I got the steal of a deal that I did. As far as Performance, it's about the same as a rsx-s or gsr. the styling is by no comparison much better than acura, the handling is the tightest but I find it more comfortable than most sports cars, and you always have the option to tighten it up from .86 to over 1.00. Toyota quality shouldn't be a question so what's the deal...auto politics?

you don't think the sytling is better than Acura RSX? Where do you think they took their styling cues from? I believe they really tried to match the celicas styling.

They do great good reviews like on styling, reliabilty and looks. But when it comes to porformance the always say "no torque" or "you have to rev it for power" But the also say best handling car of all which is good cause fast isnt onlying in a stright line. thumbsup
I never seen the celica be in like best bang for the buck car like the Ford focus puke

when the celica came out in late 99 it was the top dog in it's class. it was made to combat the acura GSR and it won rave reviews from a lot of car mags and enthusiasts. the styling was revolutionary and it's preformance was great...now with STIs, Evos, Zs, RSXs...the celica was been pushed into the shadows a bit. but no one can deny that it is still a great car. thumbsup

who care what the reviews say i bought my car for me not for someone else. besides if you own a gts and have really pushed it on a windy road and some long straight aways you will really see why it has such a small power band and close ratio six speed. for the money the gts is a great car.

Celicas are the best bang for the buck in my opinion. Sweet styling, great economy, and reliable in every other aspect how can anyone say no to that?

Celi' kickin most cars ass on this http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/comparison/articles/47901/page020.html

All the reviews I have read were pretty decent, it noted the down points of the car but otherwise it's been praised.

Read somewhere that the celica actually beat a modena in a particular skidpad test. Can't recall what or where the article came from though.

i agree...some people make the celica a handling god. although it sticks better than an rsx it's no evo or elise.

stock it runs .86-.89gs on the ski-pad...modified without an lsd and with decent tires it will probably do .96gs

1.04-1.44gs on a celica are the ones equiped with an lsd...and suspension so stiff it would break your back if used for everyday driving...

...Eight Great Rides
This car rules! Gorgeous styling, a well-sorted, rigid chassis and a superb engine come together in a package built with Toyota quality. The GTS is a repeat Eight Great Rides winner, thanks to this combination. Plus, put it on a racetrack and it will hold its own with any other car on the list and do so in style, with perhaps the shapeliest body of the bunch. Leave it alone and it's a great car; start bolting on aftermarket goodies and it turns into a raging terror...
...Our long-term project car is evidence of what can be done with only bolt-on parts to the Celica's capable engine and chassis combination. Pick the right suspension, wheels and tires for your Celica and you've got a recipe for huge grip and ridiculous cornering speeds. Building a realistic daily driver, which will double nicely as a weekend track car, is easy with this platform. Its hatchback body allows decent practicality while offering the shape of a slick sports coupe.
Head to the highway or to the racetrack in the Celica and you'll be impressed. On the road, its slippery body and tall sixth gear make cruising a breeze. Drop a few gears and mash the throttle and the Celica's racetrack mannerisms quickly show through, with screaming top-end power, quick turn-in and substantial grip.
