I thought I'd be ungrateful and vent how I want more than I currently need. grin

There is a buddy at my work who is getting a '01 Cobra which has 320hp and it sure makes me want a new car so I was doing my usual browsing of local cars for sale and I decided this would be fucking wonderful to have.

1986 Porsche 930 Turbo with a bunch of RUF mods.

Price out what an engine rebuild for it is worth & figure out if you can afford parts for that baby. Could be pricey.

Interesting how some like it and others don't. I personally love it, although the rims are a bit boring.

Today I went to my insurance broker because my renewal is comming up November 11th and it turns out that my insurance cost is actually going to go UP for my Celica despiting gaining a discount this year and that I have not been involved in any accidents, but because I have some thing like a replacement cost which enables me some nice benefits if any thing really happend to my car.. but since it's another year added to the car it means it's worth less and the main insurance company of the entire province figures that why should they have to make up the differance in depreciation so they charge me more for my insurance. Last year I paid $4000 Cnd. and this year with my discount I should have been paying $3800 but instead it will be a bit over $4100. But I can take a few things off so the insurance only costs me $3000..

With that all being said, I was curious to find out what other cars would cost for me to insure and I could have had a mid to late 80's 911 Carrera Coupe for roughly the same I pay for my Celica and since it's a old car I don't have to worry about my insurance going up for no reason, or I could have had a '99 Boxster (no option for the Boxster-S though but it should be more if the company knew what was to go on) and as for a 80's 911 Turbo well it would cost a hundred more than my Celica ($4600) but a intersting point.. it may be possible to pay the lower amount fo the Carrera and have a Turbo put in without raising the insurance cost and having the Turbo covered for at least the first $5000 and then just add $2 for every other $100 the mods are worth.

And since the book value of my car is worth $28 400 presumming I have 25 000 km's and I only have 16 000 I figure it's worth at least $29 000 or more.. that the few grande in differance may not be too bad of a trade towards a 3.2L Carrera with maybe cheaper insurance and then if I could, I'd be inclined to put a little bit of money into the Carrera. But it's all talk at the moment.. just like my two or three times I promised myself and told every one else I was going to mod my Celica but I ended up backing out for financial reasons... so we shall see.
