Ive heard ALOT of members talking about their car beeping when its in reverse...kinda like a garbage truck backing up. I own a 2002..and it doesnt do that...and i havent seen any celicas that do that..whats up?
my 02 gts does it too the beeping is on all the 6spd celicas its there to make the driver aware he has it in reverse and not 1st.. and it only beeps inside, and by the way there is a way to disable, try search
Yeah, mine beeps...and everybody who rides in the passenger seat laughs at it. Oh well...I just tell them it's because it's a 6 speed, and it's to let you know when you're in reverse, instead of 1st gear (which is right beside it).
BTW...it only beeps from the inside...it's not like a dump truck.

I just picked up my '02 and was all apprehensive after hearing about the dreaded beep-age. It's actually pretty quiet and not intolerable, and I've jammed it up into reverse several times instead of first already, so I can understand it's utility! It's impossible to hear if the tunes are cranking at any decent volume...
Life is the sexually transmitted interruption of an otherwise peaceful existence...
I backed the car into a garage, and someone went to move it, thought it was in first gear, and backed the thing into a shelf, causing me to buy a new bumper
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation To know even one life has breathed easier This is to have succeeded.
the beeping isn't annoying, and i dont think i've ever made the mistake of shifting to reverse instead of first before it takes a little more muscle so push into reverse so you know when u've gone too far

I have a white gts, 6speed 03 celica and mine beeps also. I happen to like my beeping..I feel unique because all my friends are like going crazy when they hear it.
Yeah mines beeps too and mines is a 2000. This girl I always kick it with she makes fun of it all the time. But i just ignore it because im used to it already. But the people who sit in my car and hear that lol, they always ask me "wtf is that noise, it sounds like a big truck," Im like yeah yeah i know but you cant hear it outside of the car and it does that cause its a 6-spd and the reverse is to the left. BTW people always trip out about where the reverse is located on the 6-spds. there always like "wha " I always tell them, it's because my car is unique and cool like that
