Does it ainyone know how much it costs to fix synchronizers in the transmission for a 2000 celica? Does the engine have to be dropped to do the work? If it does, what kinds of mods can i do to the engine while its off the chassis?

if you are out of the powertrain warranty you will have to pay out of pocket which i assume is at least over a grand (due to the extensive labor: removing the whole transmission and taking it apart). if you are under warranty then you are covered but the problem has to be "diagnosed" by a licensed tech.

depending on how much you wanna spend I'd say
LSD ($700)
TRD Clutch Kit
Lightweight Flywheel

I think they can drop the transmission without dropping the engine...when I had my tranny replaced in my '00 GTS all they had to do was take apart one side of my car and pull it out that side. I'm glad mine was covered under warranty. goodjob

i would add that the clutch should be japan jdm and the lsd (if you can find it) helical as opposed to clutch version. it's more durable.

Well i already have a sports clutch installed in my car as well as a fidanza lightweight flywheel. i dont really care about limited slip differentials cause i dont really lose traction that much, do you guys think it would be good to port and polish? or i shouldnt do it if only the transmission casing needs to be drop?

also, is the gearbox inside the transmission case?
