I got tons of stories for ya bro. That's how a lot of San Diego PD is over here or probably just about everywhere in Cali. A friend of mine who owns the new Mitsubishi Evo drives everywhere with it got pulled over about 5 times in one month and almost got his car impounded long story. I was sitting in shotgun, when he pulled us over automatically. Then told my friend that the exhaust was too loud!!! It's a stock exhaust btw then proceeds to threaten my friend to pop the hood. So my friend does since he doesn't have anything to hide all stock and the cop just ignored anything my friend had to say. Not letting him give one word. Getting bitchy for no reason then says if you say anything else I will have this car towed. Blowing by shit like modified hood, must have something in the motor, and he thought the daMMmm car had a kit. That car comes stock with Turbo. Don't ask me how cops here can do this, it happens to just about anyone. It's pretty lame when a cop doesn't know his shit. My friend took the cop to court and blew him away. They don't know imports unless they own one. I go to school with a friend of mine who's about to be a cop and he owns an import he's going to be a cool cop.

Cops bust me a lot of times when I'm in the wrong place and it's for the stupidest shit. All good tho I come prepared with knowledge for their blabber mouths.

Anyway another story I had a Cop bust me near a church which was quite embarrassing just got out of church and pulls me over for my graphics while I was still in the private parking lot but whatever. Then next thing he walked out came to my car told me to get out and pop the hood. This time tho I had a Carbon Fiber 1 piece hood with hood locking pins. I had the key with me somewhere in the car but couldn't find it. So I just told him I couldn't open the hood since I don't have the key I left it at home. Cop looked at me like an idiot. Oh well, I got home that day with a stupid graphic sticker ticket but nothing for the motor so I was happy. Be ready to get pulled over for anything that's how CHP is when you modify an import in Cali their cruel a lot of times. thumbsup

Hope next time you don't get messed with like that for no reason. Some cops come proper and some are not educated enough. Man i needed to let that out whew I got a ton more for ya but I'll stop here grin thumbsup

True they drive around in Ford Pickups and S.U.V. with their lights inside the vehicle so you can't spot them no more.

well if you get pulled over and learn that the cop is gonna be bitchy, why dont you just tell him that you want your lawyer present? or say that you are gonna call your lawyer? that would shut him up. smile

i have a story too.

my friend was on his way home when a cop pulled him over. the cop said that his rear signal lights were too dim and that he needs to replace them. then he goes on ranting that you cant put an exhaust on a civic. my friend replied "my car isnt a civic, its an accord." and the cop was dumbfounded. he then said that the exhaust was too loud. dumbass. doesnt know his shit. thumbsdown

ticket for the graphics that gold celica was talking about i think he meant the side and rear window. i know you can have graphics on the body but certain parts of the window are nono.

reminds me when i got popped and asked to pop the hood. i told him maybe and poped my hood took him 20 minutes to determine by freaking Intake wasnt stock lollol and then another 30 minutes to determine if my exhaust was over 96 deciables. yeah san diegos finest may risk there lives every day but the dumb fucks can tell a toyota from a honda.

alright,
first off, the law says something about the exhaust being around 90db. Other than the TRD and TPR exhaust, every other exhaust is illegal. The db sounds they produce is much higher than 90ish db.

sencond, the cop will give you a ticket for your exhaust being loud. they do not need a db rating device to measure the level of the sound.

third, if you have the TRD or TPR exhaust, which meets the required DB level, you can fight the ticket in court by providing evidence that the exhaust is at a certain level. (i've heard that someone with the TRD exhaust was given a ticket, but then the charges were dropped once he submitted papers from Toyota concerning that the TRD exhaust does meet the standard.)

Nope, he pretty much just busted out his smartness and had a ruler with him to measure the length from top of windshield to bottom of banner since I was tellin' him it's not over the visor length sir. He came prepared but the banner was still in the legal length. He gave the ticket anyways. Paid it had my best friend who is also a cop sign it off and never took it off and won't take it off.

Long Story...

Another story why cops here suck... Couple years ago. I live right by the police station...

When I was 15 I got a ticket for this strict helmet law that was enforced in S.D.. Law was strict ass a mutha back in the day. It was dark 9:00pm riding home one night from my aunt's house just 2 blocks away. Neighborhood cop flashes his strobe light on me uses his bullhorn tells me to get off the bike. I was near the park by a fence while cars were all passing. I get off the bike and the cop stops his car at the curb and gets out. I just stand their quietly then he shoves me up against his cop car and shackles my wrist with his cuffs. Sticks his legs between my legs while shoving my face into his hood and spreads my legs apart using his legs. Then proceeds to pat me down. I ask him what are you doin' to me about to cry. Shoved me in the back seat asking for my personal I.D. typing it all up on his computer. He had never read me my rights and scared the living shit out of me. This was one of the cops that violated the shit out of me. It was my first time ever in the back of a police car. No door handles, door locks, windows shut, only bars in front of you. He was threatening me about a ton of shit while talking to me through the bars. Askin' me all these typical questions then hard ass questions like who are my parents, where do I live, if I stole my bike, what was I doing out so late, if I was in a gang, do I take drugs, do I have sex, what school do I go to, and after and hour of this B.S. he told me to walk my bike home. I past the point of about to cry and just obeyed him that's how tripped out I got. I was in the back seat of his car for no reason. I walked my bike all the way home thinkin' he was following me with a the ticket in my pocket. The ticket was for for helmet, reflectors, curfew when it was only 9:00pm. I had to go to traffic school and pay for the ticket. Worst cop experience ever for a bike helmet ticket. When I came home to show my parents the ticket they couldn't believe that I got a ticket. The helmet law here back then was STRICT. Anyway he made me look like some damm idiot in the back of his seat getting bossed around.

When I get a ticket now and I know it's for the stupidest thing I take every opportunity to fight it in court, never let anything slide especially if you've been violated. These are the type of cops I hate. Week after my incident another friend of mine got a ticket and his experience was just like mine. Guess what, it was the same cop too patrolling the neighborhoods. Some cops think they just overpower especially if youre afraid of them they take the law into their own hands and twist things around on you even if youre doing nothing wrong. frown

Last story for today.

S.D. police...
Couple months ago we have a huge car show event in San Diego at Chula Vista Coors Amphitheatre called Extreme Autofest. One of the biggest cars shows in San Diego that is normally a great event. People work hard prepare their ride and pay for registration space.

During the event cops that are supposed to protect and serve come by taking down all cars info. listing license plate numbers, vin #'s confronting people and owners of show cars with B.S. of impounding this and that at the show. And for god sake it's a car show they should know that right??? Shouldn't the city know what is going on I sure hope so????? Seeing almost 200-300 cars highly modified pulling into S.D. just for a car show.

Well during roll in their are on duty police watching every drivers move. During roll out on the way heading out to the side streets toward the freeways a huge security check has been arranged for no reason. Cops just start busting every import they can get their hands on for all the mods they can list for all cars exiting the show. My friend who was infront of me in my team got pulled over and popped for a ton of B.S. It's screwed up here every now and then. Makes car shows suck when cops ruin the fun like this. Very strict no fun if you don't know the back roads of S.D. be ready to be cited by some smartass cop who wants to mess with you.

the law is fine, cops abusing the law aren't cops and deserve to be shot. deserve to be, I didn't say do it now folks.

That car show outrage pisses me off. You guys should have pulled that 2F2F manuever with big lifted trucks. Smash and Bash those Crown Vics out of the way, and the imports get away haha.

what happened in SD is law enforcement or the government trying to impose upon the personal freedoms we by law should have. Since when is it illegal to modify your vehicle as long as the modifications are legal. It's not about the modifications (that's an excuse): They are trying to crack down on a culture, a way of life they think endorses illegal street racing. Fact is most people at the show don't race but are in it for style or the import models hehe. Pretty much all NHRA pro racers are against street racing. At one of the biggest car shows SEMA, the pros have their race cars on display. If SEMA were in SD and the cops tried that, SD would be getting SUED big time.
Someone has to stop law enforcement from abusing the law, whether it's racial profiling or import profiling.
There's an old saying, and it doesn't matter what it applies to: ADAPT OR DIE!

damn that sucks, all these stories

but ghostingcelica, you should challenge it on "profiling" ask if the car the cop was driving was equippted with a on dash camera and argue that he was profiling the celica while ignoring all other cars which were speeding at 90-100 mph. and you DONT need to pop the hood, because they dont have any warrants and it's illegal if you say no.

Man... seriously why can't cops and the government find something better to do. Like arresting criminals thats committing a murder like right now.

It seems as if they don't want people to have any fun with anything anymore. Modding and having fun with our car is just a simple pleasure in life, and they have to make it so much harder for us. FUCK THEM.

The cops can't search your engine compartment without cause. They can only search the interior to your concsent.
