I just came back from a Toyota dealership because i was interested in buying the 2005 GTS Tsunami edition or the Action Package version in Spectra Blue. What they told me was that it would take 4 - 6 weeks for it to be shipped over. The thing is he also said that it could possibly take more than that time, depending on how many celicas are ordered from Japan or if some regulations change. And I wouldnt be able to get a refund unless 3 months has passed. Well, he didnt sound very sure about anything or that it was a good idea to purchase a special edition. So now I'm uncertain if I should place an order on it, because if it does take 2 or 3 months for the car to arrive I might as well choose another make.
Can someone pls give me some advice on this? Has anyone had to wait a long time before getting their car? And what are the chances of it taking more than 6 weeks to arrive?
Thx in advance!

I say go for it if that's what you really want. If you buy something that dosen't make you completely happy and then found out later you could have gotten it your gonna be pissed at yourself. And every time you look at your car that you didn't really want you will think about what could have been.

Thx in advance! I looked since April and finally found mine three weeks ago Brand-new 2004, I'm glad I waited, have the full 100K bumper to bumper warranty and most of the goodies I wanted. I also asked about the 05's and I was told there is a waiting list in some area's. Her is Pa only one few Spec Blue's will be made and it will be in Pitts & Philly only. Call around you can find some good deals online, but hey if you want the 05 go 4 it, no guarantees. GOOD LUCK

Where in Canada are you from? I bought my TRD Edition GT in '03. Dealerships can say they have to wait that long to have one shipped but the reality is that MANY dealerships (especially where I live in Canada) have at least ONE Tsumani on the lot because they make good showroom vehicles. Because of ACCESS Toyota or whatever, the dealerships aren't in competition with each other because the prices are the same so when I was looking to get my Celi they would just basically buy one from another dealership...even if it was several hours away.

The big question I have is whether the dealer whould only require a deposit from you, or will you have to actually finance the entire vehicle unseen? Thus, worst case scenario might be that you will have big $$$ tied up for months, with perhaps nothing to show for it in the long run. Other questions for he dealer: Would your refund include any interest paid? Would the amount paid be fully applicable to an alternate vehicle if the deal doesn't go through?

yeah, don't take the words of one dealership...shop around...place orders at numerous dealers...if you get it somewhere else its not your problem...plus you can take one deal to another dealer once two get your car in and make the second give you a better deal...I waited a month and a half to get my 2003 solar yellow GT the way I wanted it...weather package, power everything, NO sunroof, and carbon fiber dash...but I'm all the happier for it...have you also considered the new thundercloud grey metallic that is on the tsunami's...you'd be the only one on the boards with that color...its insane in person...Ive seen only one...and it looked good

Well, I'm gonna take a look at the RSX type s and the compare the cars. But I'm not too happy with the new headlights/tail lights of the 2005 RSX.
Thx for the advice...If do choose the Celica over the RSX, then I'm gonna take the chance and wait.

I live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) so I'm assume that there would be a good amount of celicas being purchased.
Ya, there was 2 tsunami's at the dealer I looked at, but they were only the GT version.

what is the diff with the tsunami edition? I think it has darker alloy wheels and not the larger hood scoop. The seats are also different too (color wise), i think.

Definitly go for it. You'll always be better off waiting and getting what you really want, instead of settling for something crappy.

Dealer out here (CT) has a ThunderCloud GTS Tsunami...WHAT A UNIT!! It was absolutely striking! The color alone was captivating. Tsunami had the action package with the regular spoiler instead of the gangsta-wing. Wheels were a darker gray alloy that complemented the paint job. I walked away kinda numb...

The Thunder Cloud is pretty appealing too. I actually like the red interior more than the blue one, but I love the spectra blue more than the Thunder Cloud. It's such a dilemma I want both

Well, it's decided, I'm getting the blue one. I really want to do something about the fake exhaust and the front bumper. First I'll have to get the car and save up some money though. Thx for all your opinions.
