Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior anyone have this problem?

my factory cd player skips when i play cds. it dosent happen all the time but it also happens when the car is not moving. also its not so much of a skip because the music never stops, it justs jumps about 5 seconds ahead in the song and keeps playing.

yeah i had that problem...plus my volume knob wouldn't work right..you had to fiddle with it to make the volume change. I have a 2000 and at the time (4 months ago) i only had about 28K mi. on the car and so it was covered under warranty. Free of charge...i'm glad too cause they said if it hadn't of been under warranty it would of cost me about 1000 bucks .

I have an 01 with about 26K miles so it is still under warranty. did they just replace the old unit or do something more drastic?

mine never skips.. take yours in to the dealer

I replaced mine for a $170 Kenwood Unit and it produces a much better sound and NEVER skips.

I took it to the dealer today and they replaced my unit, so far it hasnt skiped.

minehas skipped on vertainm CDs i play so i dont buy CDs there anymore and no more problems

I had that problem only with CD's I burned. No scratch's on them, it would just randomly skip
