i really want to get the veilside teardrop muffler for my celica but want to know about the quality of it. i know veilside make good quality products but just want to hear some feedback.
yep thats the one. i know its awesome. just that it costs a bundle fer only an axel-back exhaust but right now i dont really care coz i just luv the look. just that look at the picture above. the welding looks a little funny... anyways, im pordering it in (im in Australia) and so it'l take a few weeks. I'll post pics when its all done. i gota veilside kit as well with a TRD wing. Trying to go as much veilside as possible (cept wing coz i prefer the TRD)
Dude (Ev3) was that exhaust you gettin $600 Australian or American...
hmm, im also thinkin its exhause time, Someplace can get me an apexi exhaust for $500-600 Australian, but im not to sure on the quality, as to how it would rate in terms of the TRD, V/Side, custom exhausts for the celi...
TRD is most expensive (about $1800 Australian), but man i've heard its worth it in the end to go trd...so i really want to save for that puppy.
I just got the Veilside and it's awesome! I don't think it's too loud. Turbo magazine says it makes about 2 hp less than TRD but it weighs 20 pounds less! I don't think you can feel the difference in 2 hp, but drop some weight on a car and it's going to be quicker. Just my 2 cents. Robert
I keep hearing veilside is an axleback system...what's an axleback system? so what comes with this exhaust system? is it just a muffler tip?...little info i'm curious

similar question. ive heard that the TRD exhaust is an axle back system, as opposed to a cat back...whats the difference????
the only way a manufacturer can make a bolt on kit for our cars is to have a axle back system. Look at your exhaust next to the rear wheels you will see a flange where the muffler bolts to the rest of the exhaust. In an axle back system you get from there back. For us to have a cat back system we would have to cut and weld it on because there isn't a way to bolt it on right after the converter. That is way most of the exhaust systems for our cars are axle back (basically from the rear wheels back) hope that helps
So after the explanations, I got questions. Is axleback just as good as catback? So with axleback you don't get a downpipe/midpipe? (not good with this yet) Just bolt right on...is that why hp gains are so little like 5-6...?
has anyone heard if magnaflow was making a true cat-back for our cars.. i remember they were looking for some in the local so cal area to make/fit their exhaust

it is just as good...look at the gains on the VS... it just isn't a full pipe...

so if you get a catback system do your gains go up more? i mean i want a veilside muffler ...can you install urself?not too hard..just bolt on right?
To deny the simple pleasures in life is to desire death in the most horrifing way.

well that question answers itself because if you look here... http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0209tur_exhaust/ you can see that the VS is the 3rd or 4th to have highest gains...this being an non catback exhaust. So the VS is a good exhaust...I know someone who had one till he totalled his celica, he said it was soooooo sweet and the sound was just amazing.
And yes it is easy to do...just bolts and hangers and crap like that. You could do it yourself.
