Hey, I got a 2000 Celica GTS, and I've been wanting to mod the engine even though it is already fast enough... I drove in it for service at Toyota, and I talked to a mechanic and he told me Turbos and supercharger would just blow the engine... Other places tell me the supercharger will be fine which sounds right to me considering it is belt-driven... Anyway.. The only supercharger I can find is the Blitz bolt on... TRD got a lot of supercharger, but none of them are made for celicas...

So my questions are:
1. Do you think it would be a good idea to install one?
2. If Blitz isn't the only one, which supercharger is best out there?

Thanks,
Andreas

After my engine warranty has run out I plan on buying a twin screw supercharger and doing my own system design and installation. It'll be a fun project. This book is my guide:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0...1287459-8527921 [amazon.com]

The Blitz kit is way too expensive. I've had a Turbocharged car before so I want to try a supercharger. Plus I just installed a DC Sport header and don't want to replace it with a Turbo compatible one in two year's time.

sine your car is 2000, your warranty seems like it's going to run up soon, so if you have $6K, go for it... or simply look for another car...

is it possible to fit a trd 1.8L supercharger in a 01 gts?? i heard that there is not enough room. but i also heard you can fit the trd one under the hood if you get the VIS invader hood
http://www.intensepower.com/visincafihoc.html
I would rather get a trd supercharger because my brother, dad, and mom have them on there trucks/suvs and they just seem really good.

to install the trd supercharger, you gotta get your hands on a trd hood, which, from my understanding, is very hard to find. also to my knowledge, blitz is the only maker of a GTS supercharger.

Thanks guys.. I guess I will have to go for the blitz kit.. I was looking at the turbochargers earlier this year, but all the work they have to do to lower the compression ratio will cost about 3 grand by itself, and thats not including the turbo for $4700...

Dont wanna get a new car either... I wanna have the fastest celica in Scandinavia wink

But thanks for helping out.. The only thing I am afraid of is blowing something.. I guess I should invest in a new gadget and some titanium pistons too...

turbo isn't better on a GTS.

It's already high strung, using a turbo is just going to make it even more dangerous to drive hard.

The invader style hood will not allow the trd supercharger to fit. The AIT/TRD hood that is seen in my sig is the only hood currently available that will allow the TRD supercharger to fit. However, the TRD supercharger is only for the GT and will not be released for the GTS because of the higher compression of the GTS. The blitz supercharger (at least the only blitz out right now) will only work for the GTS. The blitz supercharger gets a better gain (maybe 50 hp for blitz GTS and 40 hp for TRD GT but remember that is instant power vs. the lag of a turbo). ^The TRD supercharger does not currently work with the celica because of how the ecu of the celica is diff. than the corolla and matrix. TRD said they were working on making the ecu more of a "bolt-on" for the celica and to call back late october.

I have a friend who is sponsored by Trial Tuning Spirit. Trial tuned the ECU just for the Blitz Supercharger for the GTS on his ride. Check out their website it cost around 6-8g's depending on who you get it installed. I also have another friend who owns the supercharger tuned by trial from Team Hybrid where the japanese mechanics flew to the U.S. to install it just for him a couple years ago. It's very pricey I haven't seen anyone else here in Cali who bought it directly from Blitz. The only ones i've seen we're purchased through Trial. They're probably the only ones who can tune it the right way try to contact them.

I dont know much about turbos and S/C's but would you be able to keep the CAI ( I doubt ) the header, mid pipe and exaust? how much would it cost to get the S/C installed?

Better yet... whats a good site I could read up on the Blitz S/C other than the Blitz site?

You dont have to change header, mid pipe and exhaust to install s/c.. The air should already flow well enough through considering the celica gts comes with a 2.5" exhaust piping...

Check out this site for the blitz sc

Do i have to get anything else after putting in the supercharger... I am getting new rims, so i was thinking maybe a tire width of 215 or maybe 225 if that will fit without sticking out on the sides... What about fuel pump, flywheel and clutch??

Nice, but it is made for corolla and matrix, not the celica... frown

They need to do something about that... And they say the reason is the high compression ratio? I mean.. It's our problem if the engine blows up, not theirs...

TRD warranties their products. The main purpose of going with them would be the warranty besides the name. The higher compression makes it harder. The blitz is the way to go if you have a GTS and want reliable power from a supercharger. That price of 4995 for the blitz supercharger I have heard is the Blitz USA price but they currently do not have any in stock so you have to get it from the Blitz overseas. Not sure how true that is still but you might want to call and ask if you are serious about getting it because if they do not have it it will be about another 800 bucks.

I see... I guess 800 wont really hurt too much when I am already paying 4500 for it... Well actually that sux... Hmm... Any idea when they come in? I was hoping on getting one and putting it on before christmas... My friend installed a turbo on himself, you think I would be able, with help from him to do it myself? Im sure it wouldnt be very easy...
