Celica Forums General Discussion General I just did possibly the most stupidest thing I have ever done...

Ok so I was at a stop light with a civic right next to me (had the big ass stickers on his windshield, etc.). So when the light turned green I just wanted to show him what the celica was made of. So I end up at 60 in a 40 zone and look in my rear view mirror and their is a cop behind me pulling me over. But here is the good part: HE WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AT THE STOP LIGHT AND I DIDNT EVEN SEE HIM!


Here is the convo as I remember it:

Him: What in the hell was that? You didn't see me right behind you?
Me: No, actually I did not. That was pretty stupid on my part.
Him: How old are you?
Me: 18
Him: Do your parents pay your insurance for you?
Me: No, I pay for it.
Him: How much are you paying right now?
Me: 150
Him: Do you realize what a ticket will do to your insurance?
Me: I have an idea.
Him: So if I give you a ticket will you be screwed pretty much?
Me: Yeah it will hurt.
Him: Sit there and thing about that. *goes to his car*
Him: Josh, consider yourself lucky this time. I can promise you that if you do this again you will receive a ticket.
Me: I understand.
Him: I know this car, it sticks out and I see you around, and now I know you so you better keep it safe.
Me: I will.
Him: Have a good day.
Me: You too.



Damn! Call me stupid, dumb ass, or whatever because I deserve it. I just cant believe he let me go that easy.

Man and this is the third ticket I have gotten out of (first two I was only going like 7-10 miles above the speed limit though). I guess I'm just lucky, or maybe its because I don't act like a dumbass when they are talking to me, I show them respect.

Im not like the speeder around town, but sometimes I just find myself a little over the speed limit like everyone else, but I just happen to be the one to get stopped.

lol, i did something like that too. on the 405-S freeway, i saw a cop behind me. but stupid me just flicked my cigarette bud outside. haha he came up to my side, and we were blocking traffic for maybe a minute. it was around 3pm, it was like bumper to bumper traffic.

him: do you want to go pick that SHIT up right now?
me: the cigarette bud, sure ill go right now.
him: do you know how much a littering ticket is?
me: no i do not, sir.
him: its (something, i forgot.)
me: oh
him: what you think this is funny? (i guess he thought i had a smirk on my face)
me: no sir, im really sorry for it.
him: yea i bet you're sorry.

end of story. i didnt get a ticket or anything.

I always check my rearview mirror before something like that, and I always stop at 5 MPH over...then I get to watch the classic "ricer flyby" at 20 over the limit.

I saw this on cops too, except the racers ended up getting tickets It was a mustang and a camaro.

Maybe this one will make you feel better. I came up to a stoplight when it turned green I took off and got it up to 50 in a 45 mph zone. I started noticing some people really driving slow, couldn't figure out wtf their problem was. I looked over and saw a cop pulled over to the side using laser, no big deal I'm only 5 over I keep motoring on. Next thing I know I see the lights in my rear view after I'm a mile down the road. First thing out of his mouth was I'm giving you a ticket, clocked you at 51 in a 35 mph zone...damn, never saw the sign. So I said, sorry thought it was still 45 there, I then learned the road was 40 then went to 35...doh!!

Yep, it happens.

I was doing a brake burn once in my old buick, the back tires were doing 100 & the 4 barrels were wide open sitting at a stop light. I ate a 3" hole in the pavement & smoke filled the intersection, just as the light was about to turn green a cop pulled up to the light across from me. I immediately let off the throttle & slowly pulled away. The cop looked right at me & shook his head. He drove off.

I was 16 & nearly shit my pants.

Awesome, dude! I definitely don't advise anyone to street race. But you definitely handled talking to the cop well. Be thankful for getting a break. Most don't.
