im a little worried about how my car is running.. when i start the engine and im idling.. the car makes this swirling/spinning sound.. its high pitch not that loud but loud enough to hear it from inside the car.. it goes away after a while but it comes back when i start the car.. i have a GTS 2000 manual.. also im kinda new to driving stick and i was wondering why i have no torq in 3rd gear.. when i shift to 3rd it feels like the car is struggling to speed up.. and im going like 30-40 mph.. i bought the car used so im not sure what the past owner did..
please share your thoughts

This seems like a lame reply but anytime I've ever had a problem with a car I owned, I would take it to a shop and at least get their opinion. In your case, I'd take it right to your nearest Toyota dealership. Can't really speculate on your first problem...the second, well, Celica's aren't exactly slobbering with torque so I'm not sure about that, but the shift into third at that speed shouldn't feel too slow.

I also drive a 2K GTS 6 Speed and I must say that my 3rd gear is one of the more powerful gears. I get a lot of power and accel. when I am on 3rd. How bad is it?

the first prob. might be ur belt..when i start up in the morning the belt squeal like a bitch for like 30second, but on cold day it's 1min of sqealing and sqeaking..if you shift at 30mph from second to 3rd you should get a lot more power..i have an 2k gts too..go have it check out bro...good luck..

i have a 2k GTS 6-speed as well. 3rd gear is a pretty good gear for me too. The only whistling or squeaking i can think of would be a belt...i just got a serpentine belt put in a few thousand ago...but yeah i would just trust my local shop to check it out...as cliche and pussying-out as it might sound...you don't wanna risk anything with ur baby

yeh.. i showed it to my friend and he said that it could be that my belt is just a little loose or something... nothing to worry about too much since when he felt the belt its still new.. the 3rd gear is working fine too.. i guess i was just too use to auto he said i shift into 3rd to soon when going slow  thank you for yur replys

i've done that in a camaro...went from high rpms in 3rd back to second when i shoulda been goin to 4th...glad that wasn't my car...
