Alright guys, remember that I have been looking for somebody to post an install guide for a autometer water temp gauge, well not anymore.
I JUST INSTALLED IT. I don't have pics though.
Ok it wasn't that hard. For those of you that didn't know, there is a coolant drain plug behind the block. You have to raise the car and get under. Take out the undercarriage cover and on the left hand side you will see a plug that you can unscrew and drain the block coolant. I know I need pictures, but I don't own a camera. anyways, unscrew that and some coolant will come out, but in my case it didn't. The block drain plug is identical to the sending unit that came with the water temp gauge. I used some teflon tape around the new sending unit and screwed it it. I really wish I owned a digital camera. Once you put in the wire send it through the firewall and into the gauge. The wiring was time consuming but it wasn't that hard. You just have to wire the sending unit, ignition and ground.
I know this does't seem interesting without pics, but I will borrow a digital camera tomorrow and take pics and post them here. The important thing is that you can screw in the sending unit from the gauge to the coolant drain plug in behind the block. It gave me accurate reading. I think. What is the normal temperature for the celica. Mine reads about 199 or 200F. I also installed a voltmeter that my friend gave me. Again I will post pics tomorrow.
