If I'm right, it's either from a dealer installed or aftermarket alarm system. It allows you to turn off your alarm so a valet service can park it for you with a spare key.

well you obviously bought the car used. so the only way to find out is to trace the wires...

that is for the alarm...if you have the alarm that disables the ignition then you need that switch if your remote breaks/gets lost. If you get in and your aarm is going off you can turn your key to the on position, and then flip that switch back and forth once, and then the car will start and your alarm will stop sounding. Found that out the hard way...lol

If the average alarm comes with this, theives are gonna know about it and be able to start the car just as easily as you could.

I have that same switch. My cousin said he could deactivate my alarm. He tried and couldn't.  Its function probably depends on the model of the alarm...my cousin told me had done it on his friends car and it worked.

I know my car has a momentary switch near the same spot that needs to be pushed while turning on the ignition to activate valet mode.

Looks like the switch for your alarm (as stated above  ). My manual says I'm supposed to have one, but I have a push-button on the back of my LED tube instead.

alarm-with mine you have to turn the key on and off a couple of times then hit the switch.. mine is also in the exact same spot
I wanted to slow down so i can lick his tears of saddness.

Mines hidden under the footwell. Metal bracket and all. It gets in the way of my footwell cathodes.  But it has saved my ass a couple times when my remote died.

Either a valet switch or an engine kill switch. flip it and try to start the car with your key. flipping the switch will not hurt anything. if you can start the car its a valet switch for your alarm

I have that switch with my aftermarket alarm, and mine is to turn the remote start feature on and off..

it's to defeat/disable remote start..if you have them..just try it..pull ur ebrake all the way up if you have manual tran, leave in Neutral..flip the switch and try to start the car with the remote..if you odn't have remote start then, i dunno..

Technically it is for car alarms with remote start. If the switch is turned on then you can use your remote to remote start, if the swith is turned to off then the remote start function will be disabled. Its really a stupid feature when installing alarms usually i just leave it out
