say i have 2 12's with 1000wattrms and dual 2ohm.
and if i wire it parallel-parallel then the amp would read the load as .5 ohm. so if an amp has 2000RMS x 1ohm will this work with this setup?

Can you rephrase that questions a little better with a little more info. If the amp allows you to wire in parallel and says 1ohm will provide the power for both of those subs then you can but what subs are you using? Are you trying to say that the subs are both 1000rms dvc 2ohm and you are wiring the speakers in parallel with a load of .5ohm?

What kind of amp are you using and how many channels is the amp? Is the amp 2000RMS x 1ohm single channel mono block, 2channel, 4 channel?

It should say it in the manual.

^^^ he is in the process of purchasing stuff.

you will not recieve 1 ohm or .5 ohms unless it allows you to. Like the US amps are able to be wired to any ohm which is sweet. I think JL amps are .5-4 ohms. Make sure they can handle that low of ohms before you do that.

Just be advised most amps out there are not .5 ohm stable. Usually they are only the higher end amps. The closer you get to 0 ohm...it's considered a direct short. The amp will be so hot you could fry an egg on it. I have seen some amps that are 1/4 ohm stable but they run about $4000.00 I know some amps claim they are .5 ohm, but if the price of them is too good to be true, I would wonder. As per your question, I don't think the amp would work. Unless the amp says it could run at .5 ohm, don't do it. Besides isn't 2000 watts enough confused

yes, 12" solo baric L7 is good. You could get those for $150 reconditioned at tweeter.com . Check out the kicker amps at tweeter also. They have a bunch of reconditioned kicker products.

refer to bold. if you go below 1 ohm and arent paying a small fortune on your setup and you're not Db draggin or too rich with nothing better to do you're nuts. thumbsup

and I pray that you're gonna get a setup for your highs to match all that bass. other wise you're going to have 1 super craptacular boom and no music. Unless you like to only hear bass? IMO 2K watts is way too much for most people. you'll rarely if ever have it to full power and whe you do not for long. also with that kinda draw better plan to set aside $$ for a better high performing Alternator, cap and other accessories like that.

just want you to have a better idea of what you're getting into since it doesnt seem like you fully understand the way these things work thumbsup
