I'm really considering on replacing the fake tip/exhaust with a TRD exhaust, but would i need to get an extended one?
And i'm not sure how to remove the tip? Has anyone replaced their exhaust on this model yet?
Oh, and if I wanted to keep my warranty, would i need to get toyota to install it for me? If i had to do that, would they know how to install the exhaust properly?
Thx in advance.

I believe the tip is just clipped or screwed on, so it's easy to remove. And yes, you need to have Toyota install the exhaust to keep the warranty on it. By the way they're blowing up, you may just need that waranty.

Yeah, I originally thought it was just a bad run of exhausts from a few years back, since some people had that problem and haven't talked about it since, but more blowouts have been happening since then, but haven't been reported. Check this out:

I'm surprised stainless steel can rust so badly so fast (within 1 year), and in a warm climate like CA (no snow/salted roads, limited rain). The only other exhaust I've seen that has a visble seam on the muffler is HKS, the same company that makes TPR, and they've also had rusting problems (though no reported blowouts).

Well, the TRD exhaust can't void any warranties on the car. It can't hurt anything, except maybe burning the rear bumper if the tip rests on it. You can get any exhaust you want without worrying about it voiding any warranties, and save a lot of money by installing the exhaust yourself. Though I believe TRD needs to be installed by the dealership for its own warranty to be intact. BTW, TRD is the only exhaust I've heard of that has this problem. HKS had rusting, but supposedly made a Gen 2 a few years ago with an anti-rust coating.
