I did this yesterday. Instead of painting it I used vinyl. It was a little harder to do then expected. Well finally it turned out real nice. thumbsup

bat's stuff is all custom done... its hand-cut - Andy/Bat and I talked about this before and he's doing mostly exterior stuff... although his items are hand cut - they are still 100% TOP NOTCH Quality... heck, I have a few of bat's things on my car and they look awesome!

AND I have a few of SpreadEagle's items on my car too...

both items are some of the best vinyl work that I've ever seen.. and I see ALOT of vinyl!!!

Damn that's sweet. Looks painted. Must have been tough getting in and around the corners. I assume you used a hair dryer.

Thanks guys for all the positive comments on my work. It was not easy to do, because all the corners and the plastic is actually a little bend. Like Andy said, using a hair dryer is absolutely a must. The heat makes the vinyl soften and more stretchable. Both the blue and the silver parts are made from one piece of vinyl. When you work with vinyl, remember to clean the surface properly. I use simple window cleaner. I still have the A/C and the last plastic cover around the stick to do. smile

It's really easy to get vinyl sheet on the net..
You can get roll or by sheets..
Just check out ebay.. I've seen lots of cheap rolls of vinyls...
Instruction... patiences...
You just have to work around the corners and round parts... it's all in your hand and your hair dryer... most importantly.. extra hand would help out alot...
I think if I have one more hand.. I can get this thing perfect... grin

Here it is.. just finished..
It wasn't that hard. but covering that vent sliding pocket is almost impossible.. so I just lay some small sheet to cover that little part.. and apply the whole sheet on the whole AC area...

Very nice job..
I have problem with the area around the clock..
Since there is a big curve area.. vinyls are comming off in the inner area...
I think it's too tight...
Cutting out that area seems to be good idea...

You little cut out desing is nice touch...
I'll probably try that out...

Thanks Red Devil. You are absolutely right about the area around the clock. That needed a little compromise.

Your work looks good too thumbsup It is a very time consuming job. You will need a lot of patience and someone to help you out to hold the hair dryer.

Anyway, my work is now completed and parts put back in the car... smile

It can be done according to Dave Draper..
But requires a lot of work..
Sensors.. motors.. that needs to be installed..
Cause manual uses 4 cable to control the stuff...
But Auto would be great.. if I can install it my self and parts are affordable...

Who's Dave Draper? Dooly would you know what stuff we need to make this conversion? I want to find out what stuff we need and how much we can get it for? I mean with all the people in this forum I think we might be able to pull it off. It looks really expensive but the look would definitely be worth the money... thumbsup

Monday morning here now. Called the Toyota dealer and asked for that AC control unit.

Its 1270 SEK. or 150 USD. I did expect it to be higher.
