I love the sound of the Tanabe Super Racing Medallion and then Tanabe Ultra Racing Medallion.
My car is gunna be 10x faster than yours...haha... I'm gunna buy like 10 of those speedchips! I figure if 1 gets me 20hp then 10 will get me 200hp!

I have a custom 2.5" cat back piping with aftermarket muffler. It is the best sounding exhaust I have ever heard (seriously). It is a very deep and aggressive sound.

make sure you get "mandrel-bent" piping (=smooth, no "crush bends")... Most muffler shops don't do mandrel bends. You'll have to go to a good performance shop for that. and don't get 2.25" since stock is already 60mm or about 2.36". Most places don't carry 60mm which many of the aftermarket exhausts come with, so just get 2.5", which will also work well with nitrous if you decide to go that route later on. though if you go 2.5" on an almost straight pipe, you might not like the lack of what some describe as "back-pressure". I would call it something else to be precise, but it's not necessary to get into that. A silencer on that muffler could help you recover lost "backpressure" when you aren't racing or putting your car under high load. Or you can look into an Exhaust Control Valve on www.Arospeed.com [ arospeed.com] . It looks like a throttle body but it's in your exhaust pipe, and you open or close it with a switch. Think of it as having the benefit of a silencer but being able to put it on or take it off at any notice. But unlike the silencer, there are varying degrees of open/closed on the ECV.
I get my kicks on EC.

2.5 will be REALLY loud...i have a custom exhaust on my car with a magnaflow muffler and it sounds awesome. it's 2.25 off the cat to the muffler then its 2.5 from the muffler out. it sounds bitchin. definately get mandrel bent because with "squish bent" you loose almost %20 of the flow. custom exhaust is so worth it. my boyfriend has his own shop and did my gt.

2.25" will restrict top end power. Why waste money getting it custom done when it won't perform as well as it could? Like QTRMLR_1 said, the stock exhaust is 2.36", so going down to 2.25" will cause even more restriction that won't be made up by using a freer flowing muffler than stock (or even a straight pipe).

again with this back pressure bs yes a more open exhaust will reduce low end torguee thats the only negative to them besides sound
back pressure is bs ok don't make me find the post again that disproves all of it
so go with 2.5 inch hell go with 4 inch if you want and don't worry about back pressure
and before you open your mouth again look at the kazuma exhaust (trd sport) its a straight pipe.. which makes the most power off all the aftermarket exhaust's

some back pressure reading material http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/sue462/backpressuretorquemyth.htmhttp://sandlizrd.baja.com/exhaust.htmhttp://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscellaneous/exhausttheory.htmquote from nsxprime Again, you may hear a few SPMT's tell you that "Borla mufflers make horsepower!" Or "An engine needs some backpressure to run properly!" Nonsense. A muffler can no more "make" horsepower than Wile E. Coyote can catch roadrunners. Any technician with any dyno experience will tell you that the best mufflers are no mufflers at all! spmt = self proclamind master tech

I went the route of custom exhaust myself. I have a 3inch downpipe with full 3 inch exhaust capped off with a Apex-i N1 muffler and I cut my cat off as well. It is very deep and really roars when I hit full boost. If you want the most power gains then I suggest Apex-i. It will cost you but it is good shit.

so go with 2.5 inch hell go with 4 inch if you want and don't worry about back pressure 4" is taking it a bit too far. That would rape the entire powerband (exhaust gas scavenging goes bye-bye ), and probably not fit under the car. Even 2.75" is too far for an NA engine. If you're turbo like I'm assuming Seanscn is (he does have an AllTrac hood ), then 3" will do fine, since scavenging isn't an issue anymore. this newbie needs to get informed before he starts to talk shit, the kazuma is the loudest exhaust but not the best, tpr exhaust is the best, go search and learn before you talk, earn respect fool Um, actually, Kazuma does make more power than TPR since it's a catback. It gets rid of any restriction leftover in the exhaust system (besides the header). The TPR exhaust is only an axle back, so it still maintains the restriction of the 2.36" stock midpipe (even though the TPR exhaust uses 2.5"). Because of that restriction, though, the TPR has incredible low end (even better than TRD), and its piping design helps give it the best high end. Adding TPR's upcoming midpipe to the exhaust will most likely make it equal to Kazuma, but much, much, much quieter.

BTW, please excuse my use of the phrase "makes more power", since I couldn't think of any other way to phrase it. Maybe "frees up more power" would work?
