I picked up the Xbox on Friday and like I stated the Xbox is IN and this concludes my 3 video sources (6 DVD Changer AUX 1, Xbox AUX 2 and Savv rearview cam AUX 3). Here are some pictures, the quality isnt the greatest because it was pretty dark in my garage but you get the idea|

Clean all that up and it will look nice. i'm surprised you didn't mount the system in your glove box. It does fit, right? Or is that just for PS2s?

Thanks for all the advice guys and YES I am in the market for a custom trunk molding that would fit my AMP and XBOX but for now the Xbox is being held down with some Velcro. "You gotta luv that Velcro" One thing that you guys mentioned was mounting the Xbox in the glove box. Ive seen some pictures of the PS2 mounted there and I didnt like the way it looks with the PS2 and correct me if Im wrong but the Xbox looks to be bigger (chunkier). Maybe, you guys got some pictures of the Xbox mounted there but as of now Im not a big fan.

Looks good. Very accessible. Reccomend wireless RF modulated controllers. They can go through anything My plans are to get some wireless controllers but thats probably going to happen on my next paycheck since I just picked up the Xbox on Friday and I have to say that I like the Xbox more than the PS2. However, one thing that is bothering me and GOLDCELICA kinda touched the subject and Im hoping you guys might have some advice, is the fact that you literally have to stand in front of the Xbox to control the DVD controller because the infrared receiver doesnt get the signal from the driver or any of the passenger seats. Like I said before you literally have to stand in front of it. Now, I actually did some research all day yesterday and I even went to a Toysrus, 2 Bestbuys, 2 Gamestops and other small stores where they sell Xbox accessories and I didnt find anything. I even had one of the store clerk's test 2 different DVD kits but no luck. By the way, that was FUNNY Im actually wondering if this would happen with the wireless controllers. Im not sure if this is a stupid question but GOLDCELICA mentioned RF modulated controllers is RF a BRAND and where can I pick some up. Also, does RF make the DVD kit??? Thanks guys.

hack your xbox and put Xbox Media Center on it, then you can play not only dvd's but any kind of media file. avi, divx, dvd, etc. and you navigate the menus with your controller. the XBMC (media center) uses linux's mplayer basically which pretty much plays all forms of media. not only that, if you hack your xbox you can store games on it so you don't have to switch out the cd to play a different game. you can also store movies, mp3s, pictures, anything you want. I use a hacked xbox here at home and just play movies off my pc. Works great and I imagine that'd help streamline the space since you wouldn't need anything additional and it's one less remote in your car.

my ps2 had issues staying in the glove box, so i had to chop the mess out of the back of it. barely fit then, so i had to unplug the controllers to shut the box. that x box is a lot chunkier, but sounds like xadrian has a good idea. (i don't know what that stuff is, but it sounds great!)

I was really thinking about something simpler and less expensive like a new DVD kit/wireless controller that has a better signal reach. Dont get me wrong, all of the stuff you mentioned is GREAT but I dont think I need all of it. However, where can I get one of these XBMC (media center) and how much??? I will do some research.

yeah to hack your xbox it's like an additional 15 bucks. I'm new to the forums by the way. hi folks. i'm a celica owner wannabe basically these are the steps: Buy xbox (refurbished ones work perfectly i've found): 100 bucks solder 3 really easy points on the xbox: about 15 minutes to take it all apart and such, need torx wrenches buy the right usb memory card: 15 bucks rent either mechassault (original not the newer or agent 007): uh, 4 bucks? not sure at blockbuster to be honest download the altered save game file appropriate to your game: free install new operating system: free you now have a 10 gig hard drive waiting to have games put on it. no more disc swapping. if you want to mod it further you can throw in a different hard drive. I saw a 200 gig the other day for like 120 which is cheap if you're willing to front the cash. then you can put a ton of movies and games on there. Basically, if you put in a 120 gig hard drive, it'll hold about 60 games (50-65 depending on the games). If you want to store movies on there, or stand up comedy, or tv shows or whatever, download (bit torrent!) and then just transfer them using a free ftp program called FlashFXP. Basically you plug your xbox into a local area network through that network port in the back of it, you talk to it, transfer files over, then you have your favourite stuff on it. The only reason why i suggest it is because it eliminates the need for a dvd player in your car. I mean if you're going to have an LCD i imagine you're putting in a dvd player as well which can be expensive, whereas for about 150-200 bucks depending on the hard drive, you can have one...that plays Soul Calibur 2 It's definately worth looking at and if you have any questions or anything or want some good pictures and sites and whatnot, just email me or message me. I can point you to sites that'll teach you how to change out LEDs on it and paint it etc if you want it to really match your (if you're that obsessive. i mean you did put an xbox in your car...be obsessive i say!) ~Xadrian

Where can I get these memory cards? Any links or brands you would recommend? Do you have any pictures of the 3 really easy points that I need to solder on the Xbox? Ive soldered before so I believe I can do it myself but my friend will hopefully help me out and hes a pro at it so I believe we can do it ourselves. Also, I was actually thinking about changing the LEDs on the Xbox to make it match the blue light theme that Im trying to accomplished on my Celis interior and I even saw some pictures yesterday of the LEDs swapped (picture below). So, I definitely would be interested in those links. I wouldve PMed you but I think Im not the only person interested in getting this info and all these cool links. Thanks again and I hope your stay at our site is a looong and pleasant one.

<grin> thanks! Ok, memory card - if you want to do the easy way...go to compusa and get a 32megabyte one. It's going to be highly likely that they don't have the 32 Megabyte one in a thumbdrive version, however, they do have a pen/thumbdrive thing that happens to be 32 megs...that's what we used. let me give you some links: xbox scene [ xbox-scene.com] <-- site is great. has info on how to mod everything on your xbox from the controller to the box. How to open your Xbox [ xbox-scene.com] FlashFXP [ flashfxp.com] - Allows you to FTP to your xbox. (File Transfer, get stuff on and off it) Modding using a modchip instead of the memory card trick [ forums.xbox-scene.com] still looking for a diagram of the solder points. It depends on what xbox you happen to have. The easiest way to mod your xbox is with a solderless modchip - it actually screws onto the xbox motherboard, then you can just flip a switch to turn it on and off. It's a little more expensive. probably going to pay $40 for one as opposed to the ~$15-30 you're going to pay for 'softmodding' (using the gamesave exploit). Here's the disclaimer though - if you screw up something while softmodding, you can toast your xbox. It's really important that if you decide to try it, that you don't do anything that isn't in the instructions. My friend messed his up cause he chose to unlock his hard drive after installing the new 'dashboard' (instead of the default thing you see when you start the xbox with no disc, Evolution X shows a different one. This Graphical User Interface (GUI) is called a dashboard). So it's easier to do the modchip way. If you decide to do that, get an Xecuter, they're the best I think. Anywho, start there and I'll see if I can find some more links in a bit. ~Xadrian
