Does anyone know the exact specs on the stock stereo? I couldn't find them in the manual.

dunno about the 2000, but the stock stereo in my 03 is so good that ill never put a aftermarket one in. sounds good as hell to me.

yeah. The 2000 stereo sounds good. I read somewhere online that the GTS has a 8 speaker system but I have only noticed 6 actual speaker grilles in my car.

I mostly wanted know about wattage on the system so I could compare it to my old cars setup.

the 2000 is ok but the 02 up or 03 up have JBL audio speakers and its awesome

really? how come i don't feel that way???

Apparently the gen 7 GTS rear panels have a pair of speakers combined under the grill, includes mids not found in GT models.

The 8 speaker 'premium sound' is IMO decent at best. I just sold my gen 5 GTS which had 10 speakers, including 10" in the door panels! Best stock stereo you'd ever hear, and this was 12 years ago.
