...just heard that if the fuzz catches you racing or participating in a racing activity, po-po will inpound ur vehicle and CREUSH ur CAR!!!!!!!WTF is that bout?!? i heard rite know on the 92.3 that they will have a public crushing today... CAREFUL out there peoples...peace
yeah thats great. sorry if its your car, but people doing that shit knows what the consequences are.
hopefully, the public crushing will be a reminder to all the illegal street racers who put everyones lives in danger.
Jon - the laws in CA for street racing are very strict. i dont see why they cant smash a violators car, if they can impound the car for a month and revoke your license why the hell cant they smash your car. you broke the law, and shall be punished accordingly. if people dont want their cars crushed, then dont fucking get caught in/around illegal street racings.

even if you do get busted, thats still not right to smash ur car, its like saying you get stop speeding, they take ur car and crash it, i dont support street racing, but then its not right to just smash ur car because ur doing it, specially if ur not the one racing. police are just assholes and want to scare, and be kings. but i say FUCK THE POLICE
its gotta be an act. you relly think that they can do that? its probably a seized car and they r just lying about the street racing part to scare people. with all seriousness though, there just trying to scare you most likely.
it cant be true, wath if a styled car just drive by and its some street racing there and they pull him over and just : we gonna smash your car seen you was street racing. and wath if he had loan on the car with inscrense in the car. and they brake the law but its a lot of other doing to with out street racing and you cant just smash a car becuase you drived some one over or ran on a red ligth becuase you was tired etc. probly they just trying to scare people to not street race.
A rear wheel from a yellow Ford Mustang loses traction and lets out a short screech as the driver accelerates out of the In-N-Out Burger parking lot on Calle Real in Goleta. The car is out of sight as it enters the 101 freeway at Turnpike Road, but the rumbling echo from its custom exhaust system continues to tear down the onramp - a loud testament to the driver's continued acceleration.
There was a crowd of over 50 car enthusiasts in the In-N-Out parking lot last Friday night, like there has been every Friday night since late last year. The gathering of mostly local college students meets around 10 p.m. to talk about their cars, eat hamburgers and meet new people. Many in the group shake their heads in disapproval of the yellow mustang's exhibition of speed, as they do any time a car screeches out of the parking lot.
That is because police unfairly assume that all people driving modified cars are using them for illegal street racing, especially when owners of cars with racing-inspired modifications like spoilers, tinted windows and custom rims and tires drive dangerously, said Steven Chan, third-year mechanical engineering major at UCSB.
Car Seizures Help Halt Crime FOX NEWS Thursday, July 15, 2004
LOS ANGELES On any given night in Los Angeles (search), not too long ago, hundreds of drivers and fans would gather in parking lots and on back roads to street race.
The illegal competitions quickly became a deadly game and after four people died in a matter of weeks the Los Angeles Police Department (search) brought the racing to a screeching halt by confiscating the vehicles involved.
In the six months the LAPD has been taking cars police said there have not even been any reports of street racing.
The success of the program has prompted police to try seizing other offenders' cars for drug dealing (search), soliciting prostitutes, illegal dumping and possibly soon, drunk driving.
"This is one more tool that the police can use to try and dissuade the people from engaging in conduct," said LAPD Cpt. Greg Myer. "And we're going to keep it up until some judge tells us we can't."
Critics of the program claim these seizures are a clear violation of civil rights, and one concern is that police departments will become too focused on confiscating property and the money that it generates. And just because it deters crime, they say, doesn't make it legal.

"The Camaro had just left Village Christian School with three 17 year-old male students when the driver became involved in an illegal street race with a late model Ford F-150 pick-up"
"As the two vehicles raced eastbound on La Tuna Canyon Road, the driver of the Camaro lost control and skidded across the double yellow lines into on-coming traffic. The Camaro collided with the Tacoma pick-up traveling westbound on La Tuna Canyon Road. The Ford F-150 that was engaged in the illegal street race with the Camaro fled the scene."

i dont agree with street racing - but crushing your car is too far of an extreme If they can crush your car for street racing - they should crush your car for Drunk Driving
they should open up more run ways for car to race on to make it legal and cheap. The money they are going to spend on creating a NEW statute, paying extra officers on the 'CECAT' task force, court fees due to law suits bound to come up citing the seizure and crushing property (cars) against the constitution is going to come out of our taxes. In the long run, they can think more wisely by making other options. Like i said, making a run way, or what ever they are called could possibly be profitable or atleast non profit. This government always things of harsh punishments instead of positive reinforcements
lets take away and crush people's skateboards for using them on the streets... oh and the bicyclists who drive their bikes on side walks or without a helmet, fuck them too... take their bicycles and crush them with the cars too
you think what I'm writing is too outrageous because all the above mentioned hobbies/activities do not kill people - they only can seriously break bones or just kill the rider for doing an extreme manuver... such as what is done by those who watch too many extreme sports (or race movies )
what will they be doing next? taking away your privileges to use computers - since not only can that be used to hack into people's private accounts and steal their lives/destroy them fiancialy... but it also gives access to all sorts of stuff that certain age groups "should not" be watching.
sorry for my rant... Although I do NOT agree with street racing, I also do not agree with the severity of the "crush".

Lots of issues with the police here for a month or so, but we haven't had any problems with them since then. The "crush law" thing is only being used in San Diego as far as I know.
i say, someone post the definition that police will use to determine if someone is street racing or just accelerating quickly out of a driveway/onto the freeway

i say, someone post the definition that police will use to determine if someone is street racing or just accelerating quickly out of a driveway/onto the freeway
unfortunately, i don't think there really is a cogent deffinition, it's left up to the judgement of each individual officer (correct me if i'm wrong)
i say, someone post the definition that police will use to determine if someone is street racing or just accelerating quickly out of a driveway/onto the freeway
street race: two or more individuals accelerating from point a to point b to see who gets there first straight from the officers mouth.
so next time you get caught for street racing tell them you where not racing but speeding by yourself
taking and destroying someones property cannot be legal, that ever happens to me im seuing for more then its worth. the person pays for their car not the government

umm yeah...I love my ecelica friends...all of you, really...but I got 2 words...FUCK CALI!!! if it were me I would call the public defenders office and take up that DAMN press release up with them and get them to bring it up to a federal court. They serisously need to define what a "NUISANCE VEHICLE" is, and on top of that, its just begging for a technically legal abuse of power!!!! The dealers already will rape you silly when you try to get warranty work done...what do they say "Driver Abuse"...when they clearly need to define what that is...same situation here...the whole crushing vehicles deemed to be a nuisance is just asking for power hungry pigs that have beef with the import scene or racial beef or whatever beef they want to have with whatever group of people, to take their cars, crush them , and laugh because they are going to get away with it!!! They may have rights to search and seizure under the constitution, but they should not have the power to crush a car!!! Technically under that constitutional right and the laws that follow it in each state they have right to search and SIEZE any illegal property!!!!! THE WHOLE DAMN car is not illegal!!! its just the modifications performed!!! The only thing that they are tachnically legally allowed to do is to confiscate the illegal modifications off of the car because they are deemed unsafe for the streets!!! You CALI people are being VIOLATED!!!!
contact the mayors office, and write letters to your california state legislature representative...it isn't a law that they are allowed to crush your car, but it isn't being questioned and argued right now...if you raise enough support against an action that is violating your rights then they will be forced to stop the crushing...the confiscation is a different matter entirely...and they have rights to that, but the crushing is something else entirely
my point is that they are able to crush cars that are "Nuisance vehicles"...and that term is left up to the discretion of the officers apparently...and that leaves a lot of people with modded cars open to racial discrimination, as well as being deemed to have a nuisance vehicle if the cop thinks you are being a smart ass, or they just feel like abusing their authority, or being a dick...THey should have that power alleviated from them until they clearly define what a "nuisance vehicle" is, and the grounds for determining such...
