I bought one of those charge kits and charged it but it only worked for like a week. so I started buying those refrigerant cans and now I have to use it whenever I wanna use my air conditioning but it only works for like a few days or so. its embarrising when someone gets into my car and I have to rool the windows down to get some air. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I know this sounds weird, but I've had the same problem as you and ever since I filled the engine coolant to full, it's been working great ever since.

There could be a leak in one of your lines, or your AC compressor could be faulty.

But if it blows cold after you refill the coolant, then you most likely have a leak.

See if you can spot it while the AC is running, but I doubt it. I would also recommend that you take it in, but not to a stealership.

Something could've popped a hole in the AC condensor. Have toyota run a leak test. They'll be able to fix it. Shouldn't cost very much either.

^^^ I like you're explanation. I myself rarely use the AC. I'm thinking, for myself, just remove it. Like the above said, take your car to a shop. That would be your best diagnosis. After you find out the problem or problems according to the place you took your car, ask again here if someone knows of a fix. That's the best I can tell you if it's not a serious problem, you can wait, and you don't want to put out the cash.
Maybe someone else with more experience in these matters here can help or someone that went through the same things. Good luck in the matters at hand that await you.

You should not run out of refigerant. If so, you have a leak. You need to find & fix the leak before recharging it. Let the pros handle it. thumbsup
