im gonna put a TRD supercharger kit on my celica GTS..but for now i want to put on a dual exuast system, so my back wont look funny. I want you guys to tell me which dual system should i put or should i just wait till i get my supercharger kit first then put the dual system. please give me some advice. thank you! ill have my supercharger in one year

I always thought dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder car killed the performace?? im not sure thought thats just what i have heard.

It does kill performance, but if he has a supercharger, then it will help him out a lot. He will just have to wait a year until that performance will be helpful.

Dual won't do shit except weigh the car down. A single will flow better than a dual. If you notice, there are no 4 cylider forced induction cars that have dual exhausts. Duals are only used on cars that have more than 1 header, and therefore can have 2 seperate, dedicated exhausts.

I don't think you guys are talking about the same type of dual exhaust, there are two basic kinds. two exhaust manifolds, two b-pipes, and two mufflers. the kind I think peSk is talking about is more just two tips. the dodge neon srt-4 has dual exhaust. Also a lot of dual header cars don't actually have true dual exhaust. Sometimes they have dual exhaust manifolds, one b-pipe, and one or two tips. As far as where to get dual exhaust, I suggest also to wait for the supercharger and have a professional exhaust shop build a vehicle specific custom dual exhaust.

also the s2000, a normally aspirated 4cyl, have dual exhaust.

I've seen many people with FI and put more than 300hp to the wheels and very happy with full 3 inch single exhaust. Dual exhuaust is also heavier. So, performance-wise it might not be a good idea.

It's not as much about "backpressure" as it is about scavenging. The exhaust gas pulses actually pull each other along, but if you interrupt their flow (say, by adding a dual exhaust ), you make the engine do more work, since now the pulses aren't working by themselves to continue flowing out the exhaust. The engine will have to push harder to keep the gasses flowing, and that uses up power that would otherwise be spent turning the wheels.

He's askin for help on which dual exhaust system. Haven't yet seen a post on advice that answers his question. PeSk Their is not a TRD supercharger kit made for the GTS available. Their is a the Blitz Supercharger. Trial is one company that can get you this kit. Anyway since you have two openings in your bumper why don't you just get one to match the exhaust you already have so you don't have to go out and by two new ones. Then just have the pipping ran custom to the new one. The Celica is not a race car in the first place. Getting dual exhaust will make your rear look a whole lot cleaner. Good move

wat GOLDCELICA said but if you thinkin about performance, there is really no use for a dual exhaust, you dont have 2 headers so no point, most of the times dual exhaust dont work, watch now in the winter time, if you see a car that has a V6 and has dual exhaust check if there is smoke coming out of both tips, most of the time the air will just come out of one mufler not the 2 of them, something to think about, if you ask me i say there is no point plain and simple.

do it,thse ppl dont know too much about exhaust systems, your only looking at a 5-10 lb weight addition anyways, which isnt going to change anything.

GOLDCELICA has a point, in that the celica is not a "racecar" and your end will look cleaner with the duals. HOWEVER, if you are dropping $3,000+ into a supercharger I'm guessing your looking for some performance gains instead or just a clean look. Perhaps even a trip to the track or two? So with that in mind why would you lose even a tiny bit of performance by adding a dual exhaust both in weight and from the engine?? It's not so much about the extra 10+ pounds, but more about the fact you just dropped a lot of money on a performance mod that with a car building attitude like, "it doesn't cost that much performace" will slowly chip away at the nice F/I system you just installed. But hey, it's your car, do what you want.

I think maybe he's just looking to have a nice all around car, not something built to tear up the track or waste more expensive cars. I think that the dual exhuast is more for the appearance (which i understand completely, dual exhaust looks badass on the Celica. The supercharger is to give it the extra pull off the stoplight, or out of the corners, that everyone loves. This being said, the extra 10 or 15 lbs. from the exhuast isn't going to matter much more than say... a system in the trunk. The supercharger will still produce more power than he will lose with the dual exhuast system. So, he'll be winning on both fronts.

oh yeah, and to answer the original question... I think it would be best for you to buy another muffler like the one you have, or a couple of new ones, and have the piping done custom. You'll probably end up with good job, a whole lot cheaper than any production system that you can buy.

ok, when i began with my dual exauhst research this year i knew that i wanted dual exauhst for the "look." and well on the other hand i didnt want to lose performance. I know that the celica isnt a race car, but lets face it, im sure that everyone is conserned with performance as well as looks. and after thinking about it, 15lbs doesnt really hurt you that much unless your going to the drag strip like lucky every weekend. i mean, just go on a diet or somthing and your ok. anywayz, what i did is run two dummy pipes. My exauhst actually comes out from the middle of my car. i can show you how it looks at the meet pesk, and i can get the job done cheaper than you might think. i dont have updated pictures of the install, but i am sure that i am not losing power, i have the look i want and ok, my car wieghs a couple pounds more..big deal!

I have to admit, that looks sweet.
I once saw a dual exhuast on the celica that came back from the cat as a single 2.5" pipe, and entered into a single muffler that had two 1.75" outlets. The muffler was really pretty tiny, so they managed to fit it inline with the exhuast, and then routed the two pipes around the rear suspension crossmember, and out to the rear bumper, where they put a 2" chrome tip on each on. It looked sweet, and I doubt that it hurt performance too much, given the size of the pipes after the muffler.
I'll try to find a view of the bottom of a celica, and illustrate that for you guys... it was a completely custom job, but i'd bet that you could find someone who could do it for you.
