from what i've read, you can make it work by connecting the clutch engagement wires for the starter. that way you can start the motor w/o stepping on the clutch which...but it is dangerous b/c you may forget that you leave it in gear and it'll move once you start ur motor w/ the remote.

i work for a car alarm company called Omega Research and Development, we have a full alarm/remote start that IS safe for Manual Transmissions. It's called the Omega Max-E. It also comes with a two way pager so you know whats going on with your car. I can get ya one for pretty cheap, just p/m me.

You can do it easily. Just a lot of shops will not do it. Just remeber to have the car in nuetral or else it will jump unless you have a neutral safty switch. Any remote starter will work on a manual car, just might have to add another relay and hook up one or 2 more wires.

Wanna know how the omega unit works?it goes like this... You gotta catch the starter wire BEFORE it gets to the clutch, this will not bypass the clutch for good, only for the remote start. there is also a NEUTRAL SAFETY wire that must be connected to the parking brake. In order for remote start to work, you must go thru a procedure that goes like this... with the engine running and foot on the brake, apply the parking brake, put the trans in neutral and take foot off the brake, press and release the LOCK/ARM and UNLOCK/DISARM buttons together on the transmitter, the status light will begin flashing green, turn off the key without hitting the brake, exit the vehicle, it will remain running. Press lock, and the engine will shut down, and is prepped for remote starting! any other questions just ask.

yup most can be wired for it, shops just don't like to take the chance because if wired improperly you can "start" in a gear that's not neutral. Which will fuck your shit up However the wirearound is pretty simple.

Works like this: With your car in gear, push the clutch, shift from 1st to 2nd, to 5th, to neutral. Then start your car, and go outside. Run 5 laps around your car, do a little dance, sing a little song, slap yourself silly, then get back in the car. Once inside again, adjust your seat, turn the radio on full, lower your window, yell at anyone passing by how much you love slapping donkey, then shift through all your gears several times. Then, while still screaming profanity at random people, press the big bright red button on the dash that says "ENGAGE SUPER-DUPER REMOTE START". And -VOILA- remote start is activated.

from this thread I am getting the idea that you can't start your manual celicas without pressing the clutch pedal.. is that right? (it isn't like that on the UK manuals btw..)

Its complicated so you don't accidently remote start with the car in gear, and planting your car in your neighbors kitchen.

i have a remote start and ive had no problems. you'll be fine as long as you DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR IN GEAR when you remote start it. if you do, it's gonna take off. i've seen it happen before.

I have Compustar 2way alarm and starter never had a problem with it, I have to leave my car in neutral and pull the parking brake inorder to remote start it.When its running the doors are locked so i have to unlock em put my key in ignation to acc position then do the usual after putting down the handbrake. If i dont put the keys in ig and I step on the brake the car will shut down and arm its self.Just like celicat23 posted

i have a viper 790xv and a gts 6 speed, i did NOT install the remote start feature just because of the risk of starting it while it is left in gear and it rolling forward into other cars, people, etc. It's not that hard to turn the key yourself
Not just another girl's car...
