I was like "oh fuck, forgot i left it in first !!" BUt my car was ok... I wouldnt worry, just dont stall it like that all the time

That sucks so much when you're tryin to look cool, and you end up stalling. It's embarassing. I actually learned how to drive manual on my celi. Tell me how much damage that's worth.

i learned on my celi too. i think it does less damage than if it didn't shut the engine off.

Hehe.. don't worry too much - the occasional Kangaroo impersonation at the traffic lights damages your cool image more than your car Just remember to take it out of gear if you park close to another car or in a garage! I did it once in an old car of mine, turned the key, car shot forward in the garage and hit a gas cylinder!! oops - new bumper

First time I went to test drive the celica GT at the toyota dealer. I had the 03 corolla at this time. The gear was in reverse and I guess I didnt notice it and turned the engine on. The dealer guy was sitting next to me in the car. As soon as it turned on it jerked and hit the trash can behind. I was scared as hell. I thought I was going to be in deep shit. It kinda scratched the paint off the rear of the car. It was black btw. In the end, I didnt have to pay anything and was off. They said theyll just buffer/wax it off. Lucky me. Thats my last test drive for awhile I was planning to test drive the 350, RSX, and the RX-8 in that same day since all the places were close to each other.

Its the sudden jarring for your motor to a dead stop & the gearing being locked while it happens. My guess is that the worst your gonna do is rip some tranny mounts, maybe put some undue wear on your clutch, something like that. Its not good, but not instantly fatal.
