Can you turbo an automatic gt, is it even worth it, ?

Yea but it isnt worth it.

Sure, you can turbo a GT or GTS. GT gains more power over stock.

Auto or stick, you're still going to have a lot more power than N/A. If you're going to race with it, probably not worth it. If you were gonna race, you wouldn't have purchased an Auto GT anyway. But for just all around going faster, why not? Except the pricetag is about $5k average for starters.

Uh, may be true for higher end cars, but not for our cars.

Actually someone on here has an Auto GT and is going to be putting in a turbo ... so it's worth it if it makes you happy

though most would rather turbo a manual

N/A = Naturally Asperated (some call Normally Aspirated)= non-force induction

It wwould be worth it.. Cost effective.. No.. But worth it yes. Anything that will increase your HP is worth it. For a GT F/I is pretty much the only way to go.. Or even an Auto GTS. N/A Auto GT's and GTS are almost pointless. No turbo is pointless, Just think about the over all picture.. Is it gunna be cost Effective?


The price tag will be more around 4k for kit and install and tunning. Depends on the kit you buy though. Also if anything why not do N20. On a auto its pretty and you get that instant boost and you don't ahve to worry about shifting. haha If your gunna get a turbo in a GT Auto you'll beat some car and maybe most depends on money, But you'll ahve no chance against any Turbo'd Manual. Not true. Almost the oppisite of what you want. You want to have a manual turbo do to longer gears which means longer spooling time for the turbo = More HP's! Auto's if turbo'd dont have long of a Spooling process. If anything you ride in an auto and it will change gears at like 4rpms. while a manual gt can go to 6.9rpms. Thats a lot of spooning. If I were to ever turbo an auto I'd make sure to get the PFC dude to that you change change your rev limiter with that. That would be the only cost effective way to turbo a auto. You won't get as many hp's from an Auto turbo but yet your still gunna be fast.
Shifting - Hell if your a great driver you can shift faster than any auto can shift.
Remember A GT Manaul can beat a GTS auto. GTS have more HP's and with the theory that auto's shift faster shouldn't they be able to rape the GT's even though they are manuals?

If this is true bout what you said just now, then wouldnt the best auto to turbo be the GTS. Since it has sportshift, you can control shifting a lot more.

You have to remember that, That would be after ALOT of money. Cost Effective... A PFC costs around 1000. No kit out there comes with a PFC. Just gettting it tunned would be alot.. But yes. If you did get a GTS with no rev limiter and it was turbo'd you'd ahve one fast car. But than you'd really risk blowing the motor. Its the smae problem that some GTS Manuals have if im not mistaken.

Your only gonna change gears as fast as the stall on the Torque converter lets ya

the "stall speed" of a torque converter is used for launches, not high rpm shifts, the transmission is shifted by the oil pressures inside the tranny changins at different speeds. on newer vehicles the shifting is computer controled, using a throttle position sensor, and a wheel speed sensor

I know I should of gotten a manual, but at the time I had bought it [4 yrs ago] I just wanted a nice car to get around. I will be trading it in someday for a manual, But where I live now, they only have autos. So whenever I see a m/t celica no matter what color at my the dealership here, Im getting it. thx for all thge comments, that helped a lot
