It's raining... and I have a AEM CAI on my car? I am afraid to drive it. Any suggestion?

nothing bad is gonna happen unless you get that thing in solid water to hydrolock..other than that it should be fine driving with it thumbsup

the faster you go the less damage to the intake smile but seriously nothing will happen unless you decied to drive thru a lake or something.

As long as you have your undercar plastics and wheel well plastics (and you don't drive into a newly formed lake wink ), you'll be fine. 90% of hydrolocking cases I've heard of are from people who don't have the wheel well plastic to protect the filter from water. Without that, the tire will toss water straight onto the filter. Eventually, it will build up in the pipe, closing it off, and making the engine suck up the water.

BTW, I've even heard of someone hydrolocking with the stock airbox, so don't think you'll be safe with that or a short ram, either.. wink

Yah, if you go fast enough the car "gets out of the way" before the water has time to splash up into the engine compartment. But it IS dangerous to drive in the rain like that! eek

Get a heatshield from here:
http://www.2kracing.com/product_info.php?products_id=3494

It'll keep water out of the intake even better than taping up the wheel well holes (blocks both front and back), and you won't have to worry about restricing air to the brake on that side.

My buddy almost hydrolocked his car yesterday with an AEM CAI. His engine shut down and warning lights went on. Luckily, it flushed itself out and is working like new again. Didn't have his wheel plastics on and splashed water onto his filter.

Don't worry, he got a good laughing today. rofl

It was raining here yesterday, nothing bad happened.

Went fast, slow, and even fast through a rather large puddle (that I didn't know was there! *shake fist*). But I didn't have any problems. I have the wheel well taped up.

I love Duct tape, it is the cure for everything, I think it will cure cancer one day.
