I am looking for a winter project and i was wondering if it was possible to make a custom body kit. I was thinking of making a mold out of 3x expand foam and then just pouring urathane. but my queation is, does anyone know the basic process envolved in building a custom body kit? I know it will prolly look like shit but i do have 5 months or so or a couple hours a day. So plz save me the flames because i am well aware it iwll look like garbage. BUT does anyone knoe the general process envolved in making one?
It would probably be easier making a fiberglass kit, since I believe that urethane is injected into a mold. You could start with styrofoam or expanding foam to build the kit. There was a widebody kit on here recently that showed a lot of the steps. Not the Blown kit but the white car with the black roof.
wings west makes their kits from blocks of foam, attached to the car and then sanded and shaped to what they want, then its removed and made into a mold. Then they inject the glass or urethane and bam,kit is made. I saw it on TLC for Titus's ride.
