Hey, has anyone installed a 4 point harness ina celica?

If you have...could you post some pics or say some good places to lock the harnesses down at a 45% angle?

Is taking the back seats out usually an issue?

Hope someone can help a bit!

Also, ive been told on seats that Sparco is almost the only way to go. Anyone know any other trustworthy brands that are a bit cheaper?

Thanks

Sparco, Recaro, Bride <- all good brands...

- I wouldn't get harnesses unless my first investment was either a full roll cage or a harness bar at the very least.

Where can you buy the harness bar?

And will it be safe if you take the harnesses from the seat...up 45 degrees to the harness bar, then send them straight down under the seats?

Sparco sells vehicle-specific harness bars. Unfortunately, one for the celica doesn't exist, although I have been talking with them to produce a custom one for my celi - happywink

Ever seen this before?

http://www.hardbar.net

Says it fits a toyota celica Gt...not sure what kind of GT...6th or 7th gen...but prolly 6th or somethin...

Can a harness be attached to a roll bar and used safely by only attaching the harness to the bar?

You can hook the upper harnesses to the bolts of the rear seatbelt locks. They're very sturdy, and give the harness a proper angle to prevent spine injury. You can also hook up the harness to any part of a roll cage as long as the angle is more than 45 degrees from the seatback.

Whatever you do, DO NOT EVER use the harness on the street! If you roll your car, the harness won't let you slide down the seat like the OEM seatbelts, and you'll wind up crushing your skull when the roof collapses. eek Harnesses are illegal to use on the street for the same reason.

Haha...if they arnt safe then why do people use them for racing?

I like em mostly for the looks tho...

Harness bar + sparco seats + 4 point would look sick ^_^

My friend uses harnesses in his evo 8, has em latched onto the back seatbelt harnesses to...but it makes the back seats look like crap puke thumbsdown
He uses them on the street, is he doin somethin illegal in a rally car? lol

Christian was right on his first p, but almost there in his 2nd p.

He didn't consider the roll cage in his statement. Not dangerous in that case. And not illegal or enforced as far as I have encountered.

Dangerous in your friend's case with the evo if he doesn't have a roll cage.

my car, and ignore the misadjusted passenger harness:
