Wheres the best place to buy an Optima Yellow Top battery? These things usually run about $150 at Pep Boys. I'd like to spend < $100, so if anybody could give me some ideas, i'd appreciate it. I'd like to avoid the internet as much as I can.

I need a deep cycle for my "soon to be" sound system going in. I want to be able to play it with the engine off and not worry about my battery dying. Also heard that you don't need a ground wire kit if you get an Optima. Red tops about $120. Not much cheaper. Alright, point me out to the internet(s)

35 for the Celica. About the same size for the Corolla. Ro, I don't buy on eBay. Never know what you're getting from that site. What happened to all those guys gettin hookups on Optima from friends for like $36 in another thread? Anybody wanna hook me up? Thanks Virgil, i'm gotta save some $$$. No more mods for now. Even the internet prices are $140.

What's involved in replacing the (+) lead? The (-) is easy and taking the battery out is easy...

The big number you want to look for to run your system with the engine off, look for "reserve time" that's how much time you have to play without being charged. Just keep in mind how much amperage you are drawing will depend on just how long that battery will keep a charge. I am running an optima yellow under the hood, and an SVR audio battery out back for the amps.

whats the difference with the red top and the yellow top??? Red Top is a starter battery (turning over the engine) Yellow Top is deep cycle (longer life between charges) Difference is price! i have a optima yellow top...bro i got mine installed for 150 even. i think thats the average price. You payed $150 to have the battary installed? or $150 for the battary and install? Even so, why did you have someone install it for you? its only 2 wires. The battery cost him $150. I'm sure he installed it himself. You gotta remember that working with high current batteries is dangerous, which is why you never place your hand on the car body while touch the red (+) terminal. Good way to electrocute yourself. Its a safety precaution, which is why you can have somebody else do it.

Pretty much both are good equal batteries. Red or yellow your not losing much! It's an Optima, good qaulity top of the line batteries for an automobile!
