Hey,
I have a 03 Celica GTS with 47k miles on it. Everything was working fine until yesterday, I noticed that in the higher RPM's that it would Rev higher then it would normally faster and not give the power it usually does. Today driving up on the freeway 40 miles, it started were the higher gears 5th and 6th would Rev all the way to red line with giving little power. This slowly started going down to all gears. Now I can red line it with out getting hardly any power. I can get it up t 30 in first still, but it takes a long time and a lot of patience. What can I check that is simple? What can I do to make it better to get home? It has been raining a lot up here. Hit one puddle on the left side pretty bad(engine smoked a lot). Also, the left side if your looking directly at the front smells of burn rubber after running it for a while.

Thanks for your help

ummm you get regular maintenence? Motor oil changed every 3000 miles or so, also ever changed the tranny fluid at all? Regular checkups? Spark Plugs? Clean MAF? umm maintain engine like cleaning it? Do you abuse the car by hitting redline everyday, or hittling lift every shift/every day?

That's what I think the clutch is slipping what kind of repair is that? Also, I do abuse it to be honest. I shift it pretty hard. It has had all the regular maintance on it, and is due for another oil change now. This sounds really really stupid, but I tried looking for the trainy fluid dip. but couldnt find it ??? where is it ??

I did buy this car when it had about 40k miles on it. So I don't know about the past, but can only trust what they said

it wont be covered under warantee...

a new clutch w/ install will probably run you about a grand from the dealer

... if you have hookups it can be as cheap as 200-400 bucks.

Think I should just upgrade the clutch to a better one now? How long can I expect it to last? I did get a warranty from the dealer, but like you said .. normaly wear and tear I guess

Buy an aftermarket one and a flywheel while your at it and have it changed from the stock one.

Its cause if your gonna drive hard use parts that can handle it better and wont wear out as fast. thumbsup
