I'm looking into changing my automatic shift knob. I've done some searching, and if I want to keep my O/D button I don't have many options. I've got a few questions though. First off, I've found three different kinds, but they are all very similar. One of them is marketed as a universal (no brand), one as a Razo shift knob, and one as a Pilot. The Razo is over 100 bucks, and the other two are around 60. What are the differences between these, if any? Is the Razo the original and the other two just imitations? How about quality? **Ignore this** Universal: http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home.a...0Auto&options=1 [ autoaccessorystore.com] **Ignore this** Razo: Search for SKU no. RA91 (can't link it right) https://www.imotorgear.com/sitemap.aspPilot: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/p-7032/c-10101Second question: Will any of these fit my shifter? Third question: Does anyone know where an installation guide for an automatic shifter can be found? EDIT: Forget about the Universal one...I don't trust a site that sells AEM SRI for the Celica

They should fit and they should also come with installation instructions. I actually replaced my stock shift knob with a Momo knob and relocated the O/D button into the ashtray.

^^ that sounds like a good idea, since I'm going for a red interior (and there's not shortage of red A/T knobs w/o O/D button), but I still like having that button right by me in an easy to reach spot. Also makes it a little harder to plug in things like radar detectors. Thanks for your input though.

I was thinking about getting the Razo shifter a few months back... out of the three, that's the one you want (make sure you get the satin color not chrome)

definitely not getting chrome...looks like I'm gonna go with Razo. Gotta save up for it, but I think it's worth it. My stock piece is that cheap plastic in the GT (like what's on the steering wheel) and it's starting to fade and look real ugly.

If you want the best quality and fitment. I guess the JDM one is the best choice. Made by Factory Toyota in Japan

Do you have pics? is there an install for swapping out the factory shifter? I've taken it halfway apart, left all the cables and everything attached, I could probably figure it out in half an hour if I wanted to. Most likely any shift knob you buy will come with some directions.

wouldnt the JDM ones make it awkward? cos the OD will be on the other side, and the holding position will be opposite too...

Does it come in different colors? I'm doing a red interior...and with the O/D button on the other side it would cause problems with the way I hold the shifter. Plus it's contoured for a left hand...

it's tempting to get a JDM shift knob, but that O/D button will really cause me problems. However, it comes in red, and that's the only shift knob with O/D that comes in red (that I can find).
Could you get pictures of the red? I'll probably make my decision sometime after my red Carbon Fiber overlays come in, so I can judge how well things will flow.

How you move the 0/D button to the ashtray? I cut the wire going up to the O/D button and pulled that button out of the stock knob...then stuck it in the ashtray and reconnected the wire.

Well, one option would be to reroute that O/D button to the cig lighter and get the red JDM shifter (and then just be careful - I want that radar detector baby! ). No rush on the pics KARacing since I'll have to save a bit for the price but if I could get a pic of red sometime in the next month or so that'd be great.

Why not just look into getting the GTS knob? They are real leather.

if there were a place besides the dealer (they'd rape me on the price) then that would also be an option. I kinda want to get something original and unique though. Plus, then the quality of the leather on the shift knob won't properly match the quality of material on the e-brake and steering wheel.

I've always wondered why Toyota was so cheap with their wheel, ebrake, and shifter on the GT. Come on, its still close to a $20k car and you're using rubber?!
