So the girlfriends 01 GTS needs new shocks. She wants to lower it about an inch as well, so we figured we would do both at the same time. So what are the best shocks and springs for the money? This is her daily driver/commute car and doesnt want to heavily mod her car, but likes taking corners fast. We were looking into the TRD springs, but I cant find much info on them. Also, are bilstein shocks any good on a celica?

Check out Toyogobo on ebay... he had a TRD Spring and Shock set for the celica for something like 500ish. Its a pretty good deal I thought.

I got Hotchkis. I love it. It's pricey, but it out performs nearly everything on the market. If she wants a bargain, see above post.

well if all you want is a inch go with the TRD setup shocks/springs. but if you want something a step up and not so expensive get Ebiach Prokit springs and some tokico shocks or KYB's.

What's funny is that the TRD springs ARE the Eibach springs!!! Just like the TRD exhaust is made by Borla

If you want to go just a little lower you could get tein s-techs. 1.4" drop for $140. Cheaper than Eibachs. As for shocks it depends on how much you want to spend. I'm going to get KYB AGX shocks but those cost about $450 for 4.

Hotchkis coil springs retail $190.00 does good with stock shocks. Front 1 3/8" & Rear 1 7/8". or TRD retail $180.00 does good with stock shocks. Eibach is the maker of TRD springs. Someone should post up a thread with all the different drops, springs available, spring rates, prices, etc. Excluding coil over setups. I can name a few but need specs on a couple. Either setup is the best bang for the buck. Hotchkis is track tested. Bilstein have great rep. with their shocks but have not seen many people that have used them. Remember the lower you go the harsher it gets

The cheapest setup that actually performs good is Tein S-Tech ($110) and KYB GR-2 ($250; aka TRD struts but without the $100 TRD stickers ). Just like the TRD exhaust is made by Borla The TRD exhaust is made by HKS, which is why it's built as poorly as the HKS exhaust, and blows open in the same spot. As for shocks it depends on how much you want to spend. I'm going to get KYB AGX shocks but those cost about $450 for 4. They're being sold for $360 shipped at New Celica.org

I have teins and the KYB GR2's. Everything works fine only thing is I think the struts are keeping my car from lowering all the way. I still have a 3 finger gap when i should only have 2.

Lowering the struts' stiffness will allow them to compress faster, and should allow the car to reach its full drop. Either that, or you have skinny fingers.
