ok i just took this off my car. The VVTL-i doesnt work anymore, adn i got new lift bolts in it. The old ones were still good. Anyways, I took off the selinoid like blue told me. Its the right side? I got the selinoid from the area circled in RED. There is also another circled in YELLOW. He told me thats the VVTL not VVTL-i. So i got the selinoid from the right side. Where do i clean? theres no filter or screen. Do i have the right part?

ok update...the thing seems to work. I put 12V to it and it moves and the resistance is 7.9, just like the repaid manual said. There is a filter but thats all the way in the oil control housing. If its not the OCV, then what else can it be? The dealer tested the car and said everything works fine...like they know what they are talking about? stupid mechanics

I had the exact same problem in my car. I believe I got a CEL P1693 which is for the OCV malfunction. I checked both the ocv valves and they were functioning correctly, the problem was that there was a clog in the rocker arms. Check your rocker arms for any kind of debris. Good luck bro and let me know what the results are.
