I am about to sell my TRD exhaust for the kazuma. Just wondering what the chances are of me getting pulled over for it being too noisey. I cant imagine being pulled over down here in Alabama considering everyone and their brother has a Mustang, camaro, or some jacked up truck with strait pipes on it. I mean those things are absolutly obnoxious and they dont get pulled over because the cops probubly have a camaro in their garage at home just like it.

Cops will be able to hear you from across town. No joke. The Kazuma is around 118 dB, vs TRD that's around 88. Considering sound volume increases 200% every 2-3 dB it increases, a 30dB difference is unimaginably loud. Even while driving normally, the exhaust is loud. You'd have to coast by a cop in neutral to not draw attention to yourself.

becareful (is that one or two words?) if the cops have a camaro or any domestic car like the ones that the other rednecks drive, that what are the odds that the cops too will hate on you?
if the domestic drivers hate imports, the cops might as well too.
just a warning.

haha just bought the Kazuma. I was talking with the guy and realized my kazuma wont be quite as loud as one thats going on a NA application, cause my turbo is going to act like a resonator and cut out some of that noise.

You have a turbo already, or just plan to get one?
Kazuma without a turbo is like painting "screw you pigs" on the side of your car. With a turbo, it's actually a logical choice.

I hope you're not planning on using the Kazuma with a turbo setup. It would be a total waste of time and money, since you'll need a full custom 3" turbo back system. 2.5" piping like on Kazuma and any other aftermarket Celica exhaust will just lose the power gained from the turbo because it's too restrictive.

Anything is an improvment over the stock GT midpipe. Im planning on having a downpipe made so its turbo back. For my goal PSI this will be fine. I might see 2-3 more HP from a 3inch...but I like the kazuma.

reminder. . .i have the kazuma and even i say that this sound clip doesnt do it any justice on how loud it is. as for making it queiter. . .what im going to do its buy a new resignator and have it attached since the kazuma takes off your stock resignator. also having a different tip might help too... depending on which one it is.

the thing about the kazuma is by silencing it you kill the point of having one.. the reputation it has is for its power and loudness.. putting a silencer or resinator might make it a little less loud (from what i read it doesnt quite the exhaust down) but it restricts the power that you started with.. best solution is a TRD exhaust (the legal one) or TPR, thats if ur lookin for power without that race track loudness

by putting on a resignator your not taking away power from it, simply just quiting it at least a little, its still a catback exhaust which will always give out more power than any axle back.

A resonator will only reduce the raspiness of the Kazuma. You need a muffler to be able to reduce the overall volume noticeably. And only a resonated tip will slightly help reduce volume. Different shapes and lengths on a normal tip won't do a thing.

Might be good for a 1-2 dB drop. Only about 20dB more to make it street legal. BTW, the proper spelling is resonator, and the 5Zigen "tip" you're referring to is called a "canister muffler". The tip on it is just a nice looking piece of pipe, not a resonator.

TPR and TRD are the best axle backs for gains. They have similar sounds, as well. Any other axle back out there is kinda weak in comparison, and more for sound than performance.

TRD is 2nd best in gains, adding around 5-7hp peak, and sounds great. Not like a fartcan or can o' bees. A nice deep growl.
