Celica Forums General Discussion Exterior To all those with custom exhausts

I was wondering how you guys with custom exhaust went about installing it...did you guys use mandral bent piping? if so what size piping did you guys use? would you recommend taking off the cat and have a custom set up?

Reason I am asking is because i have an apexi N1 muffler and I wanted to do a custom set up...just want some recommendations as to what is a good custom setup...or should I just get it installed with mandral bent piping?

And I know TRD,TPR,and tanabe are the favorite exhausts on the board so I dont wanna hear "get TRD" or some bs...thanx

Mandrel bends look the best and probably flow better than welds as well, but it will cost a lot more and probaly won't make any significant power differences. You'll be paying for the bling. 2.25" piping I think, and leave the cat alone. It's not robbing you of any power, removing it isn't useful for the Celica. Keep teh air clean.

I wouldn't take off the cat and run a straight pipe all the way back, that would be so loud. You can either run a straight pipe after the cat, or just the rear section. Just have few bends as possible. Don't go larger than 2.5" piping.

yah, 2.5" is the most i would suggest you go.

i'd suggest mandrel bending. its more smooth/clean.

unless you have a turbo then you would want to go 3" piping, my custom setup is welds with a cat and it sounds great with my racing industries muffler

Mine custom setup used to sound great, but within the last month it wount stop backfireing and poping. Starting to get really anoying. Thinking about redoing the exhaust to hopefully get rid of the problem

^^^ thats sux, i wonder what causes that...hopefully mine wont do that
