u cant downshift to 1st unless ur lower than 20mph. or else you have to rev match. whats the least rev you have to match before that shifter goes in gear or does it depend wuts the speed ur going?
plus when im trying to insert it in, im hearing a fuzzing noise. is that normal?
i just dont like the way the shifting feels of the celica, especially when you downshifting to 1st, cz it already feels hard, and i dont really wana push the shifter any harder so i wont grind or anything. i grinded enough already

When do you ever have to downshift into 1st? It's not even worth it especially if your going like 10-15, only boggs for a second or two spineyes Only time I ever go back into first is if Im going less than 7-8 miles an hour.

i dont usually downshift to first unless i'm going under 10 mph...

but if you do, put the clutch in, floor it, let the RPM's go up to 6k ish and then drop the clutch.

It's NEVER a good idea to downshift to 1st when you're moving...Come to a complete stop before you do so, or when you're going VERY slow (5mph or less) thumbsup

There's a lot of different threads on this site about what options folks have AFTER they've BLOWN THEIR ENGINE!!! With that in mind, downshift away! spineyes

First gear should only ever be used to pull away from a complete stop. Once the car's moving forward I always go straight to second. Keep shifting down to first and you WILL blow your engine!!

Ditto
You shouldn't need to downshift to 1st.

If you are in 2nd and need more pull just push on the gas harder. I think you can go up into the 30's-40's in 1st so you shouldn't need more pull.

I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

umm yeah... I only down shift to 1st when im going under 10mph... Not to down shift while going 20 or above 10, besides going that fast in 1st gear is weird because I hear the motor working hard and your going so slow laughsilly

i only down shift to 1st when i'm near a dead stop (5mph or lower), there is no point to go to 1st when the 2nd comes alive pretty quickly...

HAHAHah Eddy you crack me up dawg. Yeah just SLAM it hard j/k. Just be careful Celica transmissions are horrible! Hopefully the fuzzy sound is not your synchro's going bad. Try not to downshift often more likely to mis-shift. Mis-shifting a Celica is real easy. The shifts are so close, you can pop it like is hot pop it like it's hot (like snoop dogg says) grin thumbsup

you have to rev match, I downshift to first on low speed corners that are from 30-45mph.

I wont downshift to first untill im at 35mph or lower (i have pfc and 1st gear goes to about 43mph)

at 35mph im still within the powerband (lift)

this shouldn't be done at that high of a speed unless you can rev match perfectly, and it wont go into gear unless you rev match it.
