Guys I just got an offer from my parents that they are going to buy me a set of wheels for x-mas. So I'm just trying to figure out which ones I should get.
I was wondering how big of a lip I could get on a set of wheels to make them wider. But I'm not going to have a widebody so I don't want them sticking out past the car.

7.5 or 8 is the most common in 17 or 18'' size. Some companies forge them differently with standard offsets to choose from to make the lip come out slightly. Depending on how many pieces the wheel is will also play a roll in how far the lip comes out. Anyway it won't be a huge lip most of the time. Your probably going to purchase a wheel with a standard offset from a company. No biggy. There are companies that can customize your wheels to give you a larger lip without the wheels sticking out such as H.R.E. but it gets expensive. Companies such as Axis forge wheels providing you with standard offsets with wider lips to choose from but most of the wheel pieces are not removable. If you want a 3 piece wheel were everything can come apart rivetted bolts, center cap, center face, wheel lip look into a custom company. Anyway the RH C4 lip will probably be just a slight 1 inch lip if you get the standard 18x8. Just think about what offset the wheel is that will be important. Offset is very important if you want a wider wheel. If you choose the incorrect offset and later on you decide to get a full big brake conversion with larger caliper you may run into problems puting on your rims if the offset of the wheels centerface is to close to the caliper. You will have no clearance from the back of the wheel face & caliper. Then you will need a spacer or more "custom things" done to you car such as wide body etc. This will cause your rims to stick out. So becareful what offset you choose when getting wider wheels. Wherever the wheel company puts your offset that will play a big roll in the wider lip area. What offset do you plan on having BTW? Pick an offset you prefer and research what company has the lip width you'd like to have. The C4 won't have a large 4'' lip in that pic. I'll see if I can find a pic of that wheel on a Celica Look into axis they have the Axis Supermesh wheel in a standard offset for you to choose from. My friend Kat had a staggered design wheel with a amazingly huge lip without the wheels sticking out a slight 3/4 spacer is used. Her news wheels are also just as wide no spacers at all. 19's will give the wheel lip a gorgeous look. Then again you'll have people arguing your rims are to big and heavy. It's mostly your preference 19's are badass if you've ever had 19's.

^^ Thanks...I'm kind of lost on the offset part. I've never really looking into buying rims before so this is all kind of new to me. I believe I will be upgrading my brakes and calipers later down the road and I'm probably not goin to have the money after buying them to have a widebody or other "custom things" to be done to my car. I'll research the offset and try and figure out what all that means and get back to you on that one. and once again thanks a lot for the info

Awesome Christmas gift indeed How large of a lip do you plan to look at you want a highly polished chrome lip to accent the wheel or just a basic lip that just comes out? Usual Celica peeps have on their Celica's is Half and inch to One inch at the most for 17'' or 18'' size wheel.

I just got off the phone with the shop...they said that they can get the wheels, tires, and installation for $1735
but that's without Yokohama tires...which I just requested...
but what are some of the best tires that you can get? I'd really like to know fast because I can call them back and get a price on them.
