heres the story, I am storing my car for the winter. I cant afford to much so I got a car cover on in and on top of that, I got a tarp covering it. I say one of those plastic garages for a 150$, so when I can afford it, Im buying it. But in the mean time I have a car cover and a tarp. My question is: I just checked how she was doing today and noticed that under the car cover , my car was covered with condensation. So would that harm it, make rust etc? What should I do? Should I just say fuck it and leave it uncovered the whole winter? What can I do to prevent the condensation?? By the way sorry for such a long post, hope you guys and girls under stand what I am asking

I use a car cover  no matter what i think you'll get condensation unless you get a roof over it.. if it has condensation under the cover i'd say it would be almost the same as if you didn't have a cover. The waterproof car covers are usually plastic film or a plastic coated fabric and will keep the rain off your car, but will also trap condensation between the cover and your car. This trapped moisture may attack your paint with results that are worse than if you just left the car uncovered. The plastic type of car cover is useful if you store your car over the winter in a garage and use a flannel cloth cover against the surface and the plastic one as an outer protective shield. The flannel will wick off any moisture and the plastic adds a tough outer protective layer to help keep the varmints from nesting in the soft cloth. One manufacturer makes a giant "baggie" for your car called the Omni Bag. These are very useful if you store the car over the winter and wish to provide the extra level of protection gained from "sealing" the car. Place some desiccants in the bag to absorb excess moisture and seal your pride and joy for its winter hibernation. Another trick to protect any winter-stored car is to place mothballs around the exterior to discourage the rodents from moving in for the winter and dining on your insulation and wiring. so it seems it would be better to leave it off?... i usually just leave mine on when its hot to hopefully help prevent paint fade :p but winter it's rarely on

Hey Maka,
I'm betting in Mich. theres a lot more of a winter season then in New Jersey, but I keep mine covered most of the winter cause I'm at college so it stays in the drive way. The condensation is norm, but what I do is if you can, (i have my brother do it), every 2 weeks or so just take it to the car wash and give it a good scrubbing to get all the sitting water off of it. I have done that for two years and so far never had no problem with rust or anything. Hope that helps.
- Also for the record I use a covering that is made for air flow to go through it, so you might want to look into something like that, and not just a plastic tarp.

Okay, don't want to make you nervous with this story, but better to know. I had a friend who stored her 3000GT for the winter and just left it. When she uncovered it there was paint removed all over. She wasn't quite sure what happened but was worried it was because the car cover wasn't the best and meant for the conditions. Now her car needs a whole new paint job. I bit the bullet and got a nice all weather one for my last car that worked great, but never tried long term. Hope that's semi-helpful. btw, I can't find anything that fits my celica with the action package now. Any ideas?
