I am totaly new with this kind of mods, so try to help me here. I want a DVD receiver in dash that can play while i am driving. I was thinking of the Alpine IVA-D901 , or IVA-D300, or something like it. I have like $3,000 to spend on a new audio and video system so i can have other options i just don't know what to buy. Also i have a gt so it only has 6 speakers, do i have to change the speakers too?
In order to have a great, loud and clear sound, what other things i should consider?? amps? subwoofers?
Any recommendations and ideas will be great, thanks to all for the help.

Get an amp, subwoofers, perhaps new speakers if you feel you need better sound, the LCD screen you are talking about, and you will be set. Just make sure the screen can play FM and CD's. If your not installing it yourself, youll need to pay for the install + wiring.

The DVD indash receiver is like $1200 for a good one, thats most your $$$. You'll be strapped for cash on this one, so take it in steps and save up. Also, Sub and amp minimum, speakers and amp optional. For starters, you won't need aftermarket speakers, but if you wanna upgrade later, its a good idea.

with a GT, you really need to swap out your stock speakers in favor of some quality components powered by a dedicated amp...

to start off: -dual amps, one for speakers, one for sub (D class) -component speakers up front -high power rear speakers in back -single 10" sub -1F capacitor -dis block, high-end RCA cables, and speaker wires

get a batcap!! its better that a capacitor.. its does the same thing but hold a sends out power to the milasecond rather that tenths of a second. They also hold a charge longer and recharges faster than a cap. They also coast about the same.

A battery will do just fine. IF you need one. It all depends on the pull of the amp.

any recommendations on what speakers, amp, and subwoofer to get, what kind of brand or model etc.
i am thinking of going with the Panasonic CQ-VD7500U, this are the key features: fully motorized, retractable 7" widescreen LCD monitor > touch panel operation > adjustable viewing angle > selectable aspect ratios > TV tuner and antenna > super bright display with automatic dimmer > plays DVD, CD, CD-R, and CD-RW > plays MP3 files on CD-R and CD-RW > SD slot on front panel > CD changer controls > 2 auxiliary audio/video inputs > audio/video output > dual zone capable > optical digital output > 7-band graphic EQ with 6 user-adjustable stored settings > front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs > switchable high-pass (90/135/180/225 Hz) and low-pass (80/120/160 Hz) filters > Alphatuner V > 18 FM/6 AM presets > dimensions (hideaway module): 13-1/8"W x 1-3/4"H x 7-5/16"D > clock > wireless remote > 25 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels > CD frequency response 20-20,000 Hz > DVD signal-to-noise ratio 95 dB > FM sensitivity 12 dBf > warranty: 1 year > designed for use with "Region 1" coded DVDs
Is this okay??
Also, i have like 2 months to decide what to buy, so if anyone knows where can i get this stuff at a good price, i will appreciate.

An all Alpine system would be great. Get the Alpine DVD player with screen. Alpine Type R highs and subs with Alpine amps. That would be a great setup.

You can get a DVD player and buy screens. Have several screens instead of just one. That would be nice.

first, since all celicas have space for double din head unit,i think it would be nicer to fill the whole space.i have in my celica the kenwood ddx7025 with great spec.i purchased it for 1200$.here is a picture of it;its screen is by touch. For a nice sound, i would advise you to get first a 12"sub(with ampli) plus rear high power speakers in the back.it would be better to change the stock speakers(anyway they are good enough).i changed the battery in the beginning then i added a capacitor, but here also there is no true need for the capacitor.if you wanna see how i transformed my trunk into a juke box,its in the custom mods under name of hzemmo... good luck and hope u'll get the perfect sound...
everybody has a passion mine is celica..celica..and celica...

A guy from Crutchfield explain me that there are no dvd in dash receivers that plays movies and videos while the car is in motion. That sucks, because i think is stupid to have the monitors in the trunk or a place that i can't see.
Is that true?
I am looking for a dvd in dash reciever that plays the movies while i drive, does anyone have this ??
Is there a way to make the dvd play the movies while i drive??
Thanks

as i told you for the double din screen,i could connect it while driving..all it is about is that in the connections, there is a wire responsible for not letting reading DVD while driving;that wire is connected to the handbrake, once you pull it,it is disconnected...so you can do it if you want, its all matter of connections...

Thanks False - that is a LEGAL issue. All you do is trick the headunit in thinking that the e-brake is up. Connect the E-Brake wire from the headunit to a 12V Source and ground it out somewhere near. (i thinkits a green wire on most units). He has to tell you that for Legal reasons

any good website with low prices of Alpine dvd in dash receivers?? www.etronics.com [ etronics.com] That's where i got my alpine head unit. The discounts on this site might give you room to get a full unit now instead of later in parts...or a better dvd unit, etc. They also carry a ton of hard to find brands at good prices. It might seem a little shady how the prices are so low and how some items are non-returnable...but i used it and recommended it to a few of my friends and now we all have systems at 60-70% the cost...
