Typical benefits of a lightweight flywheel:
There are significant benefits of an aluminum flywheel. Though a lightweight flywheel does not create additional horsepower, it does allow the engine to more rapidly transfer its power to the drive train. A lightweight flywheel allows an engine to have quicker throttle response due to its reduced mass. By reducing rotating mass, the engine revs quicker under acceleration. Conversely, under a drop throttle condition, the car will slow down quicker due to less rotational mass (inertia) at the crank. Reduced mass equals increased acceleration. A lightweight flywheel works particularly well with turbo-charged engines because it reduces typical turbo "lag". Increased supercharger efficiency due to less parasitic drag on the crank Improved mid-range torque in a normally aspirated engine due to not having to overcome the heavy weight of a stock flywheel.

DISADVANTAGES:
Well, you accelerate a little faster due to less rotational mass, but let's say when you approach a hill at a constant speed, the hill should theoretically slow you down faster...but it won't.
So, downsides are that it is easier to stall the car and that the gearbox becomes a tad noisier, due to less mass = less damping. So, you'd have to up the idle speed to prevent continuous stalls.
The transmission gets more wear and tear because the peak torque is higher as the damping action of the mass is lost.
The notable downside would be a reduction in fuel economy, also. So, you don't necessarily want to go too light unless your application is for drag.

excellent info JAIMEJAMES
I have 1 question, is it true that it is harder to stay in lift with a LWF?

I have 1 question, is it true that it is harder to stay in lift with a LWF? personally, i couldn't verify that (although i have the trd jdm clutch i have yet to get a lightweight flywheel to match). the clutch would not have anything to do with lift since "lift" is related to your valvetrain. logically, you would just experience lift much sooner.
