Yesterday I found out my right rear tire had been punctured straight through by an inch and half wood screw. My tires are Potenza S-03 Pole Positions and they only have about 11K miles on them and still have lots of tread left.

The head of the screw was fairly worn which leads me to believe it has been there for a few weeks at least and the tire was still at correct pressure.

Being that its November I decided to just switch to my winter tire and wheels setup.

My question; Is it safe to have the tire plugged and then drive on it again next spring? Will the plug make the tire unsafe to drive at high speed or aggressive cornering?

Or will I have to buy one or two new tires?

I don't have the answer for sure... but I do have a plugged tire that hasn't given me any problems. I don't know if it might be a safety problem in the future, but I wasn't about to toss a tire that only had 2k miles on it.

Thanks for that info. At least I know that I can have it plugged and get some more wear out of it, though I may have to tone it down a bit.

I hear ya on not wanting to toss a new tire, freaking things are expen$ive.

I've had plugged tires before and they have had no problems. The tech that did it told me there is no problem doing it as long as the puncture is in the tread. thumbsup

yep, it's fine man, we plug police cars at the university hospital where i work with my dad, if it's fine for them, im sure its fine for us... long as it isnt in the sidewall ur ok, just make sure the hole has to be reamed out before the plug is put in, take it to a local gas station that has an garage, im sure they could do it in like 5 minutes

Not really sure to be honest, I found her while exploring some anime sites. I think I just typed anime into google and started clicking.
