I've been reading a few messages around the web and people say as it stands right now the fastest production car in the world is the Bugatti Veyron or the corvette sledgehammer and a few others are mentioned. Have i missed something here did any of these cars take the McLaren F1 record or are people not understanding the word Production car. As i understand the Bugatti and Koenigsegg CC on paper look like they can beat it but no tests have been done yet.
Any thoughts

the koenigsegg was tested but the track was too short. Its claimed that it can get to around 240mph. Koenigsegg > Mclaren F1. It had better handleing, braking, acceleration

bugatti veyron never went into production. 252 was the "claimed" top speed but i dont think it was ever actually confirmed if i remember right.
