hello, all,

i have celica gts, wheels are 17"

what is maximum (winter) tyre size can fit ?

205/50 r17 - is good, but it is very hard to find here

does the 225/45 r17 will do the job right?

thanks smile

225 would work if you have 8.0 rims (width)... but 215 is more for showing off your rims.. if you want performace i would do 225...although 17's are kinda small... i hope you lowered it...

i have 7.5 rims .. (alessio super)
here on our roads (russia) 17 is enough if you do not want to waste your the car's suspension off.
the same thing with lowering..

thanks smile

For winter tires, why would you want something oversized? The thinner the tire, the more effective it will be at cutting through the snow and slush.

Wide tires may provide more grip when cornering on dry surfaces, but thin tires should provide better traction on slippery surfaces.

I have 17" rims also, but I put my winter tires on my stock 15" rims. It saves having to remount different tires twice a year, and protects my 17" rims from all the crap on the road in the winter.

this is kinda off topic, but will a 225/50R15 even fit on the stock celica rims, or are they too wide?
