you're going to be paying like 700 a month for it or more plus, with what spaztikid said, you will need to know how to drive a car much better than you probably can now..i was reading all about the STi and how the FIRST thing people say is learn how to drive it or forget it, it's not like any other car. and i still don't believe you can afford it otherwise, you will be dumping more money out of the bank just to have it... so would you rather have more money that you have to pay back...or use money you have to buy something that will be equally just as good.
i do not think it is a decision for US to make, this is yours...it's your money, your car, your life..why would we tell you what to do? both cars will be substantially different, it's either you like one or the other. OK, he already said he's putting out cash and not making payments. And before anyone goes off judging that because a person is young, that he is therefore an inexperienced driver, and therefore shouldn't be driving something like, say, an Evo, remember you can screw up/have an accident/total a car at any age. I'm still trying to understand the benefits of a turbo on a GTS; I had understood most were still "under development", and what is the downside of putting on a turbo. My bias would be to stick with the Celica, and turbo if possible - I'm not a big Evo fan. lol i didn't read all of it but no you can have an accident in any car, but you will have a higher percentage if you are in something really powerful and not know how to take care/drive it...i've heard everything no one said he was inexperienced, but ANY AGE will take into account learning how to drive it.

DO IT then let me know how how much more you like the evo. Thinking of doing the same with my 02 GT after i graduate this semester. Can't wait I dont really care to much about being happy that i am going to graduate, or that i have a job waiting for me. I am just looking forward to getting an evo as soon as i start working!!

i'd get the STi, KickScrew. Much more reliable. Mitsu has the dumbest promises, as well as Toyota. BTW I dont care how you got your car...but The Evo8 and STi are too powerful, you'll need some experience to control it. i read/heard that some car dealer had an Enzo and that he let his son test drive it. a bit later, the son totaled the fuck out of it.

i'd get the evo it's got a hell of a lot more potential than a celica it's not as pretty but who cares when you've got over 270 horses stock.

Get the Evo8 and have fun. Wish I could a evo too.
Why you guys got to hate on him so much, it's not like he's wasting your money. Don't hate just because you are less previleged then others who are more fortunate, that just turns you into a bitter evil person.

Personally, I'd reinforce the GTS engine and go turbo. Even with the reinforcements and such, it'd be cheaper, not to mention be a whole let sexier

i would definately throw on the xs turbo kit and kill evos after some bolt on and fine tuning-evo weigh a lot more than celicas so a celica with the same power as an evo would win due to weight-i could have bought an evo but the celica is so much more distinct and plus 2 doors is the way a sports car should be, when are they gonna put out something with that ammount of power that weighs inlight and looks like a sports coupe?
respect the gt-s

if you have the money go for an STI, evo are too common. another thing you can do is get in contact with c2 gas, he can give ya info to build your celica for a lesser amount than getting an sti or an evo and get the same amount or more hp output than those 4 doors and still retain the sexy celica look

didn't you see the link about the EVO (it was a video)?? The turbo is nice after about a mile but the turbo has a huge lag...Celicas own it A mini van beat that on a 1.3 mile track...then the EVO passed it about half a minute after that lol...then it is fast...Celica's are sooo much better looking too!!! Stay with the Celica!

Lol. This thread is ancient. Well here's how it goes.. I was waiting going to wait for the right time to get the Evo. But then I stumbled over some inheritance money that I was going to pay my way through medical school with. I was talking it over with my parents and they told me that my college was already paid for. Soooo I decided on getting a car that would hold its value a little better. See the Supercar thread on anything goes to see the ending.

Keep the celica and buy some Turner Microcap it's a badass Growth Stock Mutual Fund. That will give you time to shop around and plan some more. If you put $10,000 into a Roth IRA now and 14% compounded...in 40 years you have $2.618 MILLION! That is compounding interest ONLY! The fund above yielded over 40% the 3rd quarter alone! Invest the money, keep it saved and drive with a smile only satisfaction can buy!

I know this one kid who inherited a cool million from his grandparents. He bought himself a Benz C32 AMG.

No way...just get a twin turbo supra and put the BPU kit on it...if you can get the right deal, it would cost a couple thousand less than the evo, but you would smoke almost everything. Just think, if you can get a twin turbo supra for like 30 grand, by the bpu kit for like 1400, you would be running at least low 12's...11's with slicks. that is, depending on how good of a driver you are.
